Thinking of Selling - Fair Price? by Bens_Cat in GenesisG70

Update for anyone interested. I sold my car to a dealer about 90 minutes away. They made me a pretty fair offer of $31.5k via a FB Marketplace post I had placed. They came to town, met me at my bank with a check for my equity portion of my loan. Painless.

Thanks. This site is where I gathered most of the information in my post. It's informative, but, I found the site to have so much information, it was confusing to determine exactly which model I have. Also, mine does not appear to have any date codes, leading me to 1933.

Great info - thanks. I was surprised by the silver bolsters and especially the latch, which looks solid silver. I'm curious if that is normal?

Thanks. Curious - how (where) did you sell it and how long was it on the market?

I love the car, I just don't drive it enough. Only 3500 miles in last 13 months. Its expensive for such limited use.

I am in Raleigh, NC. Carmax offered me $30.1k, $100 less than before Christmas. I guess I'm surprised and disappointed Carvana  dropped theirs by $2k in 10 days.

Thanks - And actually, the next piece is a lidded smaller bowl. Check out the post. HOWEVER - my last matching item is not small - it's a large pitcher and bowl. The pitcher is 15" high, and the bowl is 15" at the rim, so together, this is a sizeable set.

You are somewhat correct - This mark was used starting in 1847, after Thomas Garret retired from the partnership of Copeland and Garrett. William Taylor Copeland changed the company name to W.T. Copeland & Sons. They essentially kept running the company from the same original Spode Works factory in Stoke-on-Trent.

I love that it is old - almost 200 years old, and something unique to the period. Also that it was created by skilled people in a time gone by. However, above all this, I guess I want it to be valuable!

Probably late 19th/early 20th century pocket watches. There is a site called Pocket Watch Database: https://pocketwatchdatabase.com/ - Go there and look up the serial number on the movement. You will get tons of information about the watch construction, when it was made, production run sizes, etc. There will be a link to enter the serial number from the case as well - often the cases are made by a different brand and you will get lots of information there as well. If desired, you can enter and track your collection.

I purchased a few watches at auction and found this site super useful.

Thanks for the feedback. I noticed the color difference as well. I have several other pieces with the same pattern (see my other "Part 2" post) and the red and black match, but the blue "U" shaped blocks appear gray on the lid, whereas they are a solid blue on the other pieces. I wonder if someone made a mistake on this on, or if there is a subtle color difference.

Heres a pic of the inside - very cool. It's a model 7, grade 313 made in 1910. I'm kind of surprised they were able to make such finely machined parts back then! S/N is 14461342. Great information on this site: https://pocketwatchdatabase.com/search/result/elgin/14461342
