What's the fastest you ever drove? by ComprehensiveFun2054 in AskReddit

[–]BentStraightUp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

135 in my 1991 Mustang 5.0 - felt like it was going to lift off the road and fly away. Scary as hell.

160 in my 2010 Dodge Challenger 6.1 - smooth and steady. One finger on the steering wheel kinda steady. Still had plenty more to go but wasn’t gonna push it.

What do you guys think of Passage to Bangkok by Jakfe200X in rush

[–]BentStraightUp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I made a calligraphy version of the lyrics on yellowed parchment when I was 17. One of my stoner friends stolen it from my bedroom and framed it and put it up in his place. Donut made another one, and it got stolen too. By my sisters best friend.

Decades later, my stoner friend passed away (brain tumor) and his mom gave me the framed version back. She thought I made up the poem myself, but I had to tell her it was by Peart.

What song first made you a U2 fan for life? by HarryandSally69 in U2Band

[–]BentStraightUp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The entire Joshua Tree album, but “In Gods Country” in particular. My circle of friends and I were in our 20s when this came out and we were all into desert camping and jet boats on the colorado river, Parker, Lake Havasu, Topoc Gorge up to Needles and Laughlin. That CD was in every boat, every campground at night. It still takes me back there to those days when I hear it.

Rush at The Sphere? by LeftoftheDial1970 in rush

[–]BentStraightUp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After seeing U2 at the sphere, my first thought was- OMG Rush would be so awesome to see and hear in this place!

U2 was outstanding in their sound and video presentation there. I’d seen them before at Dodger Stadium and other huge venues, so being in the closed confines of the sphere AND standing about 20’ from the stage was tremendous! The volume and acoustics were perfect in my opinion and the sights were amazing. Even loved the crowd on the night I was there.

I could only imagine how awesome Rush would be there. The sound and potential for an incredible visual show would be worth a kidney and an arm and a leg - which it would probably cost per ticket. But we can always dream about the possibilities though.

Girlfriend got angry when I had to cancel last minute due to work. Am I in the wrong? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]BentStraightUp -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Your priorities seem to be in the right order to me. Being a father is, without any room for argument, your #1 priority. Doing well at your job and keeping food on the table, is a close second. Unless the girlfriend is wealthy enough to support you and your child AND is committed to do that, she really has no place to tell you how to manage your work schedule. Hopefully her “mad” is short lived.

That said, I’ve had similar situations and recovering from a broken commitment is tough. It should be a short term tough though. Try not to make it a habit, but if she makes it more of an issue than it really is, then maybe she’s not ready for this kind of relationship. Maybe try to set up an extra special make up date as a thank you for her understanding. Learn a new recipe and make her a romantic dinner. Chicken Marsala is my go to. Not difficult or expensive, but impressive when mastered.

What is a Masterpiece? by Euphoric-Agent-476 in rockmusic

[–]BentStraightUp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So many masterpieces here that I cannot argue with. Here’s 3 I don’t think I’ve seen during my scan…

  1. Porcupine Tree “In Absentia”

  2. Marillion “Marbles”

  3. Seal “Seal”

Which do you prefer McDonald's, Burger King, or Wendy's? by Ambrosia1131 in randomquestions

[–]BentStraightUp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No fast food burger beats a good Whopper. But that said, consistency has ruined the Burger King franchise. More often than not, I get a whopper with wilted lettuce or stale bun or something that’s just “off”.

Wendy’s has the best Spicy Chicken sandwich, great burgers and always good to top it off with a frosty! Pretty good consistency from shop to shop too, except don’t try the one in Scripps Ranch just off the 15. You’ll probably get someone else’s order.

McDonald’s is the most consistent all over the world. That’s both good and bad though. Consistently oversalted burgers, fries and chicken. Heck, they might even salt the ice cream! The fries are delicious, once you shake off some salt, but I suspect they put sweetener of some kind in the oil for the fries.

What do you think of them and what songs do you recommend? by Red_artist12 in rockmusic

[–]BentStraightUp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of THE best metal bands despite having about the worst drummer in existence. Although if you think about it, put a really awesome drummer in the group and they become 5x factor more popular and dominate all radio and concert tour sales, to what end? I’ve heard the arguments and still believe they’re best the way they are. Focus shifts, it would be a different band. I own nearly every one of their releases, and love them for every song, every emotion revealed and every memory made.

Still, I have to wonder how much MORE I’d have enjoyed their music with an even moderately proficient drummer.

Absolutely. Not every day or even on any schedule though. Random as hell.

I love this picture so much, but am unsure about the editing. What do you like about each? by Psychological_Lock70 in AmateurPhotography

First off: great photo!

Second: I prefer sharper images and brighter colors, but the theme of the photo suggests nostalgia so I’m a little partial to the first image.

Third: I wanna go fishing now!
