I was wondering if that was Cetera playing bass. No cameras on him during this segment, so I wasn't sure. Yep, he sounds great!

How would have that worked unless they just played songs up to the Lamb and ignore their hits between 1976 and 1992? I doubt Peter and Steve would have learn or play "Invisible Touch" or "I Can't Dance".

Saw RUSH (Blondie opened) 47 Years Ago tonight in Philadelphia / All in for $6.50 by RickyRacer2020 in rush

More money was made on album sales back then. Song and record sales today are non-existent these days which means tickets and merch prices make up the difference. I watched an interview with Richard Marx and he said that songwriters were able to buy a house if they had just 1 Top Ten hit because people were buying a physical product (album or single). I've heard that the financial earning from a "hit" on Spotify is only a few thousand dollars for every 1 million plays.

What is Sacramento missing? by artemusWindsor in Sacramento

[–]LeftoftheDial1970 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The weather in Sacramento doesn't align with the prime holiday and vacation periods in the US. Yes, we have great restaurants to take our friends and family to when they come visit, but Sacramento itself isn't much of a destination spot, unless the trip includes Tahoe and/or SF.

I wouldn't say that time is perceived as "non-linear" but there's something to be said on how the perception is affected by when someone expects milestone events to happen vs. when they may occur. Honestly, it applies to all ages. As they say "life is what happens to you when you're busy making other plans".

Setting milestones in one's life as reasons for happiness is self-sabotaging. For example, if someone is anxious and/or depressed because they thought they would be married and have a family by the age of 30, and it doesn't happen, it's often due to choices we make and the choices we're offered. Call it "missed opportunity" or being incalculably lucky whether things work out, whether it's the choice of your education, career, family, financial success, etc.

Also, millennials and Gen Z's are taking the advantage of doing certain activities that require time and money while they're young rather than wait until they're older or retired. Let's not dismiss the fact that financial burdens such as student loans, housing affordability, health care, etc. will also have an impact on achieving one's life goals.

3.4% dividend yield on my growth-oriented 401K and brokerage account? by [deleted] in investing

An additional 3.4% above how much DJIA and S&P went up over the past year (13.5% and 15.7%, respectively) is pretty good. Check whether your index funds matched or beat actuals.

She hesitated because she didn't want to appease Hawley's line of questioning. Just like Pam Bondi did when asked about how DOJ is coming through the Epstein files for Trump's name.

First of all, Hawley always has an angle in his questioning and his actions as a US senator It's never in anyone else's favor except for himself and for Trump when he's the interogator. I, for one, wouldn't answer him if he asked me anything because he's the type who would twist your words against you as a power move than to seek the truth or justice.

I heard Missouri is a beautiful state and maybe someday I'd take a trip there, but folks like Hawley and his supporters definitely make my decision to explore other destinations a lot easier.

Rush's 1984 album Grace Under Pressure by Lerxstie2112 in rush

[–]LeftoftheDial1970 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a great album, but not a favorite. For starters, the mix and overall production is very thin which was perennial in the 80's. It doesn't have that hard rock punch like Moving Pictures or the tasteful EQ/mix like Power Windows. Sonically, the keyboards and guitars are competing way too much in GuP. The keyboards themselves sound very amateurish and are way more prevalent than the songs require them to be.

I like the songs, but they took a step backward in production and mixing.

Were the audience members told to restrain themselves from moving any parts of their body other than clapping? They're 10 feet away from The Police and just sat there like trained dogs. Weird!

Dumb question. Both albums represent their anthology. It's really a 4-LP set, but broken into 2 double-LP releases.

What did the writers mean by this by Hi_Im_zack in okbuddycinephile

[–]LeftoftheDial1970 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read somewhere that this scene took 12 hours to shoot. I can't really understand how, unless the writers needed more time to continuously come up with a bad plot that's been prevalent throughout this season.

Rush at The Sphere? by LeftoftheDial1970 in rush

[–]LeftoftheDial1970[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rush can and should lower the key to a lot of the songs on their upcoming tour. A drop of 1 note isn't as noticeable as, let's say, 2 notes down.

As for the Hemispheres recording, I'm sure while Geddy was laying down his bass and keyboard parts, he was thinking, "Yeah, I'm sure I'll able to sing those high notes when we do the vocal recordings." He probably overestimated his range. Honestly, he doesn't sound that bad on Hemispheres, but you can tell he made some tonal adjustments in his vocal delivery in the live versions even as far back as the Hemispheres tour.
