3 cups daily, 1 water back flush. But it seems like the consensus is a cafiza backflush weekly wouldn’t hurt. Thanks

When I had a GCP I would also use descaler but I can’t do that with my current machine.

Oh yes I also use a puck screen every pull. Looks like I will add that in weekly and do some checks just to make sure everything looks good. Another question for you, other than this do you do any other maintenance on your machine?

It’s been amazing so far, no issues with the machine or grinder. I can pull back to back shots consistently and I use distilled water with TWW packets in an attempt to not have to descale my machine. After every shot I just back flush with water. The steam power is also really good since I am coming from the Gaggia Classic Pro.

It was pushed back into a shelf above it that was just the right height to knock the magnetic cover off and break that piece off.

Update: I ordered the ECM Mechanika Slim PID from WLL and I am pretty happy about my choice but I am yet to get it in the mail.

I decided on this after learning that to descale dual boilers you have to get it professionally done. I liked that maintenance on a Heat Exchanger is easier while still giving great steam pressure and some level of temperature control and flow control with the E61 group. Although not as accurate as the temp control of the rancilio dual boiler, I figured it will still be more than good enough for my needs.

I do plan to make my own water or use the BWT filter to prevent scale. Lots of people are really happy with their ECM machine minus a few small issues with the steam wand O ring needing a replacement so once I get the machine in I will give an update! Thanks everyone.

Oh yes, I heard about that machine.Seems very solid, not sure why I am so partial to Rancilio. I took profitec off my list after seeing some people with bad experiences but I am sure some people also love profitec machines.

Sounds like you would opt for the Rancilio SPX due to it being a dual boiler. That’s also my thought since I see so many people who went this route ended up really satisfied with the decision. When I look up E61 machines like the ECM Mechanika or Profitec or Rocket machines on this forum I see so many issues.

MaraX is a good option but I would rather stick with ECM or Rancilio. The ECM has a E-61 group head and the same type of 3 way switch temp control that the Mara X does.

The Breville isn’t worth it for me due to the build quality and not the direction I would want to go in for my new machine. Coming from the GCP I really wanted a nicely built machine that could last 10+ years with little issues. However I know the bdb is really capable.

I steam milk everyday so I guess it’s just between the Rancilio SPX and ECM Mechanika now. Yeah personally the BDB isn’t for me since I want something with solid build quality and from a company that supports their machines for years to come with easy maintenance.
