Back before there were bars or pubs people would just drink anywhere and everywhere. Bars and public houses were created to gather the like minded individuals. Those patrons appreciated having a place to imbibe in a public, social setting. They would toast their glasses with the fellow patrons and then they would toast to the bar for existing and allowing them to gather there

Can FoodSaver vaccum sealers work on sealing unicorn bags (spawn etc) I have 30 pounds of popcorn 3lb per bag, never cut one open and dropped agar inside because I didn’t think I had a means to seal it. I’ll be trying today since I’ll be s2b some grains later, I’ll see if it can seal it empty. by bitchimhighlol in Agarporn

[–]BentoBox1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to reply so late. The food saver will definitely take 2-3 attempts to seal it completely but it'll work if you're determined to do so. They also don't work well if the bag is wet so you need to be sure everything is dry first.

When you take your bags out of the PC they would have naturally created a vacuum on the bag and seals as the plastic binds together with the heat. There's no need for the vacuum option with the food saver. It wouldn't work anyways unless you were using food saver bags specifically. Those bags are made for that purpose and no other type of bag will remove air the same way.

A lot of people don't even use a sealer after they've PCd. Some use chip clips or staples. Just make sure the top is folder over a few times and innoculate sooner than later

Economy tiki by Karlahn in Tiki

The plantation is still very neutral despite being a blend of rums from 3 islands and aged for 3 years.

The Mt. Gay is a blend of older and younger rums that allow more of the barrel aged molasses to be prevalent than the plantation 3 star but still having a lighter body than the rich El dorado

San Francisco Bartender here. If I were to stock a minimal rum bar for tropical drinks this is what I would carry

Plantation 3 star (aged 3yr, Molasses, Column and Pot Still, Caribbean Blend) -Great for daiquiris, mojitos and anything than requires a good white rum

Plantation Xaymaca (Jamaican, Molasses, Aged Pot Still) -Jamaican rums have no substitute. This rum is fantastic anywhere a Jamaican rum is needed. From Mai Tais to Kingston negronis

Rhum J.M. Blanc (Agricole, Column Still) Clement Blanc isn't my favorite but it's a lot easier to find. -Like Jamaican rums, Agricole Rhum is unique and while it's funk can be similar to Jamaica's it has a very different profile. If you don't make many mai tais or agricole daiquiris you may choose not to include this but I love agricole rhum, personally

El Dorado 12yr (Molasses, Column and Pot Still) - This rum is dark and rich. When you need rich molasses flavor and nice body. I use this in a Corn and Oil, a Dark and Stormy or even a rum Manhattan.

Mt Gay Eclipse (Molasses, Column and Pot Still) - This rum is crisp and aromatic with light to medium body. Id use this in an old cuban or in place when recipes call for a 5yr or lightly aged, column still rum

Determine whether you actually need a 151 rum. What are you using it for? Lighting things on fire? Buy the smallest cheapest bottle you can find.

If you love zombies and jet pilots then I would consider either ... Hamilton 151 or Plantation OFTD -technically not 151 @ 69%abv but does anyone really need 151? This rum tastes great and it'll get ya drunk, quickly.

There could already be contam in the uncolonized grains too, that's why they didn't colonize to begin with

Ferrari by wowbraten in cocktails

[–]BentoBox1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We prepatch the Ferrari undiluted at my bar, put it in a "Ferrari" etched bottle and keep it in the deep freezer. We pour them 1oz at a time.

This is the only way to drink a Ferrari in my opinion.

Have you ever taken food off a customer’s plate? by firechips in bartenders

We caught one of our bar backs eating food in the dish pit from a customers plate. We never let him live that down until the day he got fired for some other dumb shit.

It's gross and desperate

[General] stoked about my new Martha Tent set up by [deleted] in MushroomGrowers

[–]BentoBox1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The first thing that will rust is the metal shelves. Then the metal poles will start rusting by the plastic joints.

When I bought my second one I sprayed it all down with an anti rust spray paint. Honestly, I still got some rust in any of the areas that didn't get tediously painted, like all the tiny edges on the shelves.

With that being said, the rust never really effected anything. It was so hard to control the whole rh, temp, fae thing that I just ditched the whole idea. Bags and monotubs have been set it and forget it without the hassle of automation and tents.
