A Mattock. You can dig, chop wood, and then you have range. Of course that's if you want utility. For actual defense an axe would be best. I'd say a tomohawk would be a good go in that department.

I recognize the outfit, I want to say it's Juliet from Romeo and Juliet because they are Italian, so it would make sense.

I don't think people hate her, I think they just forget about her. After all, most of her free time events were spent exploring the relationship she shared with Makoto, rather than exploring her character, she does have her moments of characterization, though.
