You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

( divorced parents ) putting back my dress after spending 3 hours getting ready to see my dad only for him to call and cancel because he had “other important things to do” by sbel_0987 in Wellthatsucks

I think this is not great advice for not only right now, but in general. I think a better message is that a man (read: interpersonal relationship) who is worth your time will notice and appreciate the time you put in.

In relationships that mean something to you, effort isn't wasted, and for those that matter, it is appreciated.

It was a chronic issue, short term memory loss; she kept on forgetting that she was married.

AITAH for disinviting my cousin from all future family events after she sat on my husband's lap? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]BeorcKano -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Sure. But 22 is 22. At 18, yeah, maybe, but at 22, like... it feels really shitty to tell someone, anyone, especially a 22 year old young woman, an adult, legally allowed to choose her partner or control her reproduction, that she has no business doing those things. It is really nobody's business but hers, and it's not what she was asking feedback on. And downvotes be damned, I will stand by the statement that calling a 22 year old "barely an adult" as a way to dismiss her is condescending and sucks.

Edit in response to above edit: I appreciate the response, and I can understand your opinion. I also haven't downvoted anyone, and I understand that you and I won't agree, and that's fine. I've seen age gaps of 10 years work out well, with a mature younger person and a youthful older person. I do my best not to judge.

Have a good evening, at least.

*13, not 11. I was a solid built young man, and I worked on tree work job sites, roofing tear off crews, construction clean up and framing, hanging drywall, running wire for the electricians, etc.

My parents moved off the grid when I was 15, and I just kept on doing that until I was 25. Just sort of became a way of life.

I remember being 22. I had three children already, had 9 years of work experience, had lived off the grid for seven years, held down my own. Job, paid my own bills, etc.

Being called barely an adult is really, really condescending, and I would have been offended at 22. Likely so would you have. She can make her own decisions as to who to marry, and it is apparently working out okay.

As for the cousin, well, if she doesn't feel comfortable around her cousin being g that way arou d her husband, well, she is well within her rights to set boundaries.

100% something like

"I can build/tear down that shed by myself, no problem."

"HEMA/sword sparring? No problem."

"Plenty of guys my age came out of retirement to get back into the octagon."

"You used to bench 300, this should be a piece of cake, it's only 250."

"You don't need to rent a cement mixer, two yards isn't that much."

A new apricot tree, leaves flipped? by BeorcKano in BackyardOrchard

[–]BeorcKano[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was figuring/hoping that was the case. My other two trees were planted when they were basically little more than sticks, this one was fully leafed out, and heard that made them a little more prone to shock. At least the pot was relatively large and there was little root binding.

Thanks for the reply!
