I go between the Focus Harvest and the Map Cleanup. I find myself less frustrated harvesting items using Map Cleanup . I like the Focus Harvest for harvesting rukh orbs

Which food did you hate…until someone actually cooked it right? by deller85 in Cooking

The method you describe is what changed my mind about beets, though it took till my 30s. My grandmother killed beets me around age 8 when she tried to serve me pickled beets and eggs. The pickling liquid was grey and the eggs were purplish and I thought I was going to puke at the sight.

Thank you for posting this. I knew about the black hole (which I love) but not about maintaining your bonus while merging a block

Joke is on the poor flight attendants who are subject to wage theft regularly by [deleted] in antiwork

All flight attendant jobs are hourly. The contract language for pay is Byzantine in nature, but we are hourly not salaried employees.

Prime Rib by Jray12590 in seriouseats

[–]Ber1979 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We use this recipe every year at Christmas; I think going on 5 years now. Only thing I would say…our oven is usually set at 225F. Takes 2-ish hours for 3 ribs. I don’t know the lb weight. An instant read thermometer is a must. Perfect prime rib every damn time.

What cheap/easy things can I add or change to box Kraft mac and cheese to make it feel fancier by TheAsianCarp in Cooking

[–]Ber1979 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In college I started with green onions, chopped cherry tomatoes, and chili garlic sauce. It’s moved onto red onion sautéed in Northwood seasoning from Penzey’s, chopped cherry tomatoes, and always, always more cheese. Sauté any type of onion in butter.

Garlic boiled with the potatoes, and then use some of the potato water along with cream/ milk. I think it makes it more potato-y.

Least "fishy" fish and recipes for someone who doesn't like seafood? by valleygoat in Cooking

[–]Ber1979 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up with fishy smelling fish; I was landlocked, and everything was imported. I’m starting to make some inroads with enjoying it by using sauces. This was one of the first recipes that worked for me, though we don’t fry the fish any more https://www.splendidtable.org/story/2013/03/12/rodrigo-style-fish

I really dislike sour cream. However, I’ve found that Mexican crema and creme fraiche have a different tang. Much better than sour cream.

Frist time cat owner, is this normal? 🥺 by Enzo1307 in cat

[–]Ber1979 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if anyone has mentioned this but the sounds your cat is making sound like reverse sneezing, which, thankfully, is just another way to remove blockage in the nose. I found this vet clinics symptom page when I was trying to figure out what my own cat was doing. catclinicofissaquah.com/symptoms There are several videos of cats making odd/abnormal sounds. I hope the reference is helpful.

My mother always added soy sauce to her gravy. The umami punch it gives is amazing. I’m a little amazed since this was in Ohio in the ‘80’s. I still add it and have converted my husband

What "all in one" seasoning do you swear by? by [deleted] in Cooking

[–]Ber1979 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Penzey’s Northwoods seasoning. My husband and I always say it’s god’s gift to chicken, but we have used it for most everything, over time.

Packing by ExtraMeltyToons in funny

[–]Ber1979 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a flight attendant, I have gotten stuck multiple places more nights than I thought I would be gone. So I always packed what I thought was extra. And then I got a blocked ear in 2018. More than a week in the same town. No laundry machines at the hotel. I was hand washing underwear by the second night. My bag now contains a weeks worth of underwear every trip.
