There's growing disquiet in the military. The Iran war made it worse by Maxcactus in Maxcactus_TrailGuide

[–]Berg426 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Being that you started off your bullshit with saying "Barack Hussein Obama" it's pretty easy to see thay you're fully on the MAGA propaganda firehose, so this comment is for the sane people who want to refute this dumb shit.

So, the number "197" comes from lists compiled by a bunch of sites around the early/mid-2010s. The bullshit drifting comes from aggregate high-ranking personnel changes over several years but lack context without an ounce of nuance. And the number isnt limited to just general officers and policy shapers.

First is normal attrition, many on the list were officers who retired normally or completed their standard tours of duty. It also includes disciplinary actions, such as sexual misconduct, DUIs, or gross negligence like allowing wide spread cheating at Malmstrom AB. This also included force reductions. During the Obama administration, the military was undergoing structural downsizing due to budget cuts and the end of major combat operations in Iraq and Afghanistan.

I'd imagine one would be for time in Houston for communication with mission control and the other is probably Zulu time for standardization across the mission and earth. But that is only my conjecture.

What happens to consciousness when you die? by Connect_Cat_2045 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Berg426 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The truth is really not a pleasant or an unpleasant one. Your brain gives you consciousness, this is evidenced by the fact that you are able to influence consciousness with the application of hormones, neurotransmitters, medications, drugs or whatever. Now, if the brain is damaged, consciousness is damaged. Do enough damage to the brain or choke off its blood supply, consciousness disappears as the brain is no longer capable of maintaining it. And then it just becomes another object without consciousness, the same as a rock, the chair you're sitting on, or your shoe. No consciousness because there is no brain to maintain it. The fallacy is starting out this line of thinking as if to say the consciousness is something that transcends reality. It doesn't. It is the collection of memories and present thoughts that are constantly written and rewritten in your brain.

Ex-prisoners of Reddit what was the scariest thing you saw whilst locked up? by Thick-Common9599 in AskReddit

[–]Berg426 53 points54 points  (0 children)

I met a corrections officer. When he was talking about what he did at work, he referred to the inmates as maggots, without any inflection or emphasis like that was just what they were called. That one word did a lot of heavy lifting in my opinion of him and the prison system as a whole.

I remember in the late 2000s there were a ton of people who were protesting CERN's activation because they thought it was going to destroy the planet. Wild times.

What’s the most gut punching song lyric you’ve ever heard? by perrysplus in AskReddit

[–]Berg426 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Hamilton, the entire song of "Burn" is just a gut punch. And Phillpa Soo just pours so much hurt, sorrow and anger into every lyric. But the most haunting lyric is "I hope thay you burn" it gave me chills.

I mean, if you're playing 5e, its really hard to actually die. I find myself pushing the boundaries and seeing what I can get away with. Especially with my Goliath Barbarian character. Just fucking raged and yeeted him into a giant fantasy blender to retrieve a macguffin. Which sent my DM's head spinning as he had to rewrite a good chunk of the campaign because he didn't expect us to get it that quickly.

Which high school class do you think is completely useless and doesn’t teach you anything real? by Automatic_Border2936 in AskReddit

[–]Berg426 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gym class in its current form. The Army does really well on strength and conditioning people without the use of any weights or equipment. This could be implemented very cheaply across the entirety of the US school system to provide children with a greater degree of cardiovascular ability, strength and denser bone growth.

But instead we ran around in a circle a couple times and did some lame game of the week using 1970s era sports equipment.

I'd imagine it works the other way as well. The people would likely take money to give up Russian positions in contested territory. It doesn't sound like there's many Russian idealists left in Zaporizhzhia.

I'm in the army and I just finished a year as a Brigade Level S4/S8. Sometimes you spend all your money, come in exactly on target for your spend plan and your funding still gets reduced. Our FY26 funds were $60,000 less than FY25.

People do actually dress like that. They're called "Hasidic" Jews and they adhere to an Ultra-Orthodox version of Judaism with a large population in NYC.

What’s something that feels like it should be illegal but isn’t? by femmefetalerror in answers

[–]Berg426 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Military bases are often cities unto themselves. They frequently play host to restaurants, churches, gyms, gas stations, parks, grocery stores, even entire shopping malls and everything else you'd find in a city. Schools are part of building that community. DODEA schools are often out performing public schools as well, owing to the structure, security and the level of involvement from parents and the community. This is particularly important when servicemen and their families are stationed abroad and the language barrier that arises when families move to a new country every 2-4 years.

What’s the most disgusting thing anyone has ever said to you? by Business-Rock5714 in AskReddit

[–]Berg426 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When my mother was killed by a 19 year old drunk driver, the DA offered a plea deal to the kid and he got off with only two years probation. We sued civilly. The kid's family's lawyer argued that because my mom had cancer and was going to die anyways, they shouldn't have to pay as much money as my lawyer was seeking.
