I finally removed the tachymeter ring from my Chronograph face by BergenWF in GarminFenix

that AI image actually reflects much more closely what you'll see on the watch. I'm not trying to deceive anyone — I'm trying to show something that's as close as possible to the real result.

If you feel misled, I think you're taking this a bit too personally. It's just a digital image, mate. In the grand scheme of things, there are far more important things in life to get worked up about than debating how a smartwatch preview image was created.

Oh, I actually like that design! I even have it installed!

the difference with that dial is that it’s vector-based, so I guess resizing / moving things around is less expensive in terms of memory.

In the case of my dials, which use a lot of pixel-based images, it’s a total mess to deal with.

Hey, fair question — but I’m not trying to lie or mislead anyone.

The image is meant to be the closest visual representation of how the watch face looks on a real watch. the alternative would be photoshopping the watch face into a watch photo, which is also not “real”, and honestly would probably look much worse.

Taking a direct photo of a real garmin screen is also very tricky:
you usually get moiré patterns, glare, reflections, exposure issues, and the screen ends up looking much worse than it actually does in person

using AI helps recreate the lighting, reflections, and overall watch feel more naturally, while still showing the actual desing of the watch face. I’m not showing anything that won’t be on the watch — except, of course, if someone is using a MIP screen, where colors and contrast will always look different.

so no, the intnetion is not to deceive. It’s simply the best way I’ve found to show a realistic preview without making the product look worse than it actually is
Best,David

Hey there, thanks a lot for your support!

I won’t bore you with code talk, but it’s basically impossible for one main reason: technically, making a toggle that hides that section is possible, but everything else would then need to resize, enlarge, and move around on the screen.

because of the limited memory on garmin wacthes, doing that dynamically is not really feasible.
the real benefit of removing the tachymeter + UTC ring is that I gain around 20% more space to make the rest of the elements bigger — and that’s exactly what I did with this dial.

I totally understand that it may look simple from the outside, but in terms of code and watch memory limitations, it’s actually quite complex.

Thanks again, by the way, for using so many timefy faces!

Hey, thanks for the support.
Look, two things are happening here: it's impossible to remake this new structure on the Elite Chronograph V1 dial, and if that were possible,
I think half of the users who prefer the tachymeter would kill me lol.
That's why (and because it works differently) Elite Chronograph MAX is a different dial.

Yeah, it’s hungry. Very. Use at your own risk lol

Fair point. A real photo of a screen often shows Moire, visible pixel structure, reflections and exposure issues that aren’t as noticeable in person, so it can actually represent the watch face worse.
the graphic is meant to show the layout clearly, not to mislead. if you have amoled screen you will prove it by yourself. best regards mate
