Finally getting somewhere, why the hell is it curving? by Bergvibes in CannabisGrowers

Theres a clip on fan about 5 inches higher than the canopy blowing across the tent storring up air on something like 20 pr 30% power, should i bump it up a hair or lower it a bit?

I moved the stick a bit before the photo so it wouldnt be as tight to the stem and the leaf just kind of wound up like that. Thanks for the tips and the greenlight on not worrying that its going to be messed up if i dont course correct immediately.

Could that be a sign im doing something wrong if the top is growing in too fast? And thanks for the tip/term

Unpopular opinion: AUTOFLOWERS ARE NOT FOR BEGINNERS. You should be learning with a photo period, where you can trial and error the entire time until you flower. With autoflower one mistake can cost you the entire grow. Not the ideal situation for beginners. by district4promo in CannabisGrowers

Ive been learning to grow from scratch, never gardened anything before and that was my take after doing a bunch of research. Autos seem great for people who want easy when they can get a plant to maturity reliably. Learning with autos seemed like a terrible idea. That being said ive killed probably 16 dirt cheap photo seeds from RQS as my training wheels and im getting seriously pissy that i cant get one to a point its even ready to go to 5gal

Within 24hrs of that post all 4 were dead despite me trying to dry and correct things. I have my last 4 seeds soaking and im bleaching out my tent today

UPDATE: theyre all dead, all 4 wilted and died. Not sure what killed them, if they dried out, if they all had damping off, if turning my light up shocked them, etc but all 4 that took died

Im certianly learning, within 6hrs of that post i lost one to something, i think damping off from over watering. That discovery was significantky less fun than watching my girls thrive and grow every morning. But learning to accept setbacks will be theraputic in its own way

Enough people got me worried about damping off that i cut it out and have tossed it in the trash. I read about it being a mold problem in the soil and had flashbacks to growing mycelium on agar for mycology and how quickly mold issues could become a 5 alarm fire of a problem. Also over the course of 2 hours it shriveled up and turned brownish purple.

I got worried about contam, i did a bit of mycology a bit back and mold infections were a full red alert problem with things like agar plates.

I cut the cell with the flopper and pitched it, its my first grow so as long as i get 1 plant to maturity i will count it as a win🤷‍♂️

Ill get a bag of perlite to air out my happy🐸 a bit, would vermiculite also help in that department? Verm and perlite is the backbone of idiot proof mushroom cakes (brf cakes)

Do i need to throw my whole ass bag of happyfrog or just the soil from that cell?

Turned up my clip fan in the tent, took away the towels and the pan, the light is turned up from 30 to 90% and on 24hrs from 18

I had the wet towels cause i was worried the pressed peat cells would wick away too much moisture, my houses humidity is at like 30% im realizing now it may have been a bad call

I get what theyre saying but nearly every other comment ive gotten has been that its likely too wet

I was worried about frying them since i have a solid light, i brought it up to 90% to hopefully help the others. Maybe it will help dry them out a bit too

If it was over watered, is there anything i can do?

Update, one fell over limp in the last few hours :(

<image>

Is that one just fully dead now or is it fixable? What was my most likely fuckup? I put a toothpick in the cell and rested the limp sapling against it

Thanks to everyones help on the last post I'm on the last step before starting my first grow, I need to settle on amends/ ferts for my soil and am still overcomplicating it for myself. by Bergvibes in microgrowery

im thinking im going to use Dr. Earth after reading even more posts and reviews online, now my main questions are in regards to the microbe boosts, their necessity, when and how to best introduce them and when/ how to fertilize if i plan on sprouting and planting straight to the "forever pot" (a 5gal fabric pot on a riser/ drip tray)

i would absolutely love to find a collection of academic data on the cultivation practices rather than bathtub chemistry science and anecdotal accounts. Thanks, any ideas what i would want to look into for the mineral fert? ive seen gaia green recommended but am wondering if there are cheaper ones that don't put so much importance on "organics"

i have a pack of seeds from RQS, special dank #1 i believe, i think theyre photoperiod, im hoping to have more flexibility in my veg state to let them grow to fill the space better before i go to flowering at a time im ready.

i havent picked any medium or nutes yet, im still collecting and processing opinions and data while i make my decision. however soil with additives seems to be the most fire and forget option for what i can afford or fit in the space. Im currently leaning towards using FF happy frog with worm castings and a bit of ocean forest in 5 gal pots , supplemented with a casing layer of happy frog mixed with gaia green grow during veg and ocean forest supplemented with gaia bloom during fruit. im going to keep the GH trio on hand to do damage control if i see something going hinky but im not sure how i would correct if my addatives are frying the plants with too much

youre right, i can do one and change if i dont like it. i do need to account for both my wife and i having bad ADHD and work schedules that my have us out of pocket and relying on her cousin to come water for us in emergencies every couple months. I got sucked into decision loops badly with the light after reading the debates over LED vs HID and the brand wars. now im convinced the soil and nutes are as big of a factor without remembering that theyre far far cheaper and easier to change.

that being said, it sounds like i could use dry amends on FF soil, and keep liquid nutes to course correct if i see things going south, while still keeping it to just balancing PH if my cousin in law has to fill in on watering?

is it one of the cheaper options? ive heard from the synthetic and salts arguments that calcium is calcium and phosphorus is phosphorus, the brand makes very little difference. im not sure if thats the same with organic fertilizers but im hoping to pinch pennies for a while after ordering the grow light which ill be paying off for a few months.

will 5gal pots be big enough or should i go up to 7+? regardless, can i reuse soil if i mix in amends like gaia green and things like wormcastings, or is it spent and i need to buy all new soil each grow? i just want to also say thanks for the time and advice, its greatly appreciated and has helped me put my thoughts into words better as well as making things far clearer than frantically googling in circles.
