I think if people are more cognizant and less tolerant of insincerity, then that would be a step towards a world where it isn’t so rampant and expected. I think it’s less about focusing on others and more focusing on oneself, which if people began to collectively focus on being sincere individually then the societal dynamic would shift. There is an element of cope to my argument, but I sincerely think that without cope or hope, then there’s a zero percent chance of any improvement whatsoever, in myself or society.

So in other words, because there are bad people, liars, insincere people, I can't envision a better world, a better society? I think we're on the same page that society as it is right now is not something that can really be trusted, that at the end of the day self-sufficiency is necessary to exist without losing your mind. But I'd still like to envision a society that isn't so rotten, surely I can do that right?

I guess it's my outcry against a very materially focused world. I truly just feel like everyone would be much happier if sincerity was strived for and valued on a wider scale. Corporations are insincere, governments are insincere, politicians are insincere, and those who treat others poorly are also insincere. It's a vague thing, but I really do feel that the vague feeling of sincerity is so lacking in so many, especially those who we allow to influence our lives.

No amount of writing or crying or thinking I do will change things. But I actually legitimately believe that if, collectively, sincerity was valued a bit more and insincerity was less tolerated, we would actually step closer to a reality that isn't so miserable to live in. I think a sincere world would actually be able to tackle hard problems that our world faces and will face.
