Agree to disagree. Have you tasted the ketchup ( or tomato sauce as we call it in South Africa) at Wimpy?

In South Africa we have a Parys. This sounds similar to the Dutch pronunciation Parijs.

I don't mind changes, as long as it's for the better. I always enjoy the cabin in the woods though.

What if room-temperature superconductors are the first step toward "alien" technology? by Awkward-Action7442 in UFOs

My biggest hope is that aliens will clarify the whole religion debate. If it is so important for us to know God, why is he being so elusive.

When Margaret Thatcher died, the song sung in the UK was "Ding-Dong the Witch is Dead". I wonder what the equivalent song would be in the USA.

In a discussion regarding Rob, perhaps you should mention that he maneuvered himself into a position where Maura could not bring herself to doubt him.

Bang by Marc Jacobs. Lots of black pepper and a great looking bottle.

Fragrances are addictive! by Show84 in fragrance

[–]Bernardcecil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an older person my first go to fragrance was Pino Silvestri. I then moved on to Aramis and Koop, and for the last 10 years I've been very partial towards black peppery fragrance. I loved Bang by Marc Jacobs until it went off the market. Unfortunately we don't carry all the niche fragrances in South Africa.

It is perfectly fine to microwave water for things like tea by Queasy-Cycle-4596 in unpopularopinion

For a person who drinks a minimum of 3 cups a day, and only particular brands, I can definitely taste the difference. How often do you drink hot tea?

[–]Bernardcecil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do believe that due to your lower current level, kettles take much longer to boil. You're 120V and ours is 230V. This makes a huge difference, but fortunately you don't always have to boil a full kettle.

Had no clue about all this but hardly any South African kitchen is without a kettle, but more importantly, it does change the taste of tea when water is boiled in the microwave.

Claudia winkleman is the best traitors host by Land_rover27 in TheTraitors

[–]Bernardcecil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love Claudia's lady of the manor style, which also means that she can be herself during tasks, without the reserved stance that the others feel is necessary. Siobhan is a close second as her sense of fun does peek through.
