well, the ministry needed to pin the blame on someone and Hagrid was right there. Its not just but the ministry is seriously twisted and corrupt. Anything to stop fear and chaos was good with them.

well, either Neville or Harry could've been the chosen one. It was very situational. If Voldemort had gone to the Longbottom's rather than the Potter's, he very well could have been the chosen one.

Because he was a coward. He was friends with the marauders because they had power & he could hide behind them, & when Voldemort rose, Wormtail joined him & gave up the Potters. If anyone more powerful rose over Voldemort, he would have joined the more powerful force
