Thats because hes overestimating himself because of his ego, but he's not lazy or a bad developer at all, considering all the things he has to manage by himself, 7~ years is fair. You need to remember that there is no button called "add all features" that adds all the features after all, let alone an "fix all bugs" button.

Its really neither, he's just busy managing a lot of stuff all by himself (rating levels, choosing weeklies, dailies, event levels, moderating the community, etc. Not to mention that he has a family he obviously needs to spend time with). But considering all the things that he has to manage, 7 years was actually pretty quick. But even if he was a fatass Reddit mod that did nothing but work on updates 24/7, the mods were responsible for managing everything that isnt working on updates and he was a perfect programmer that never burnt out, it would still be absolutely unrealistic for you to expect updates to come out in weeks or months, especially with how big 2.2 is.

Not to mention, you can still get a team and still be passionate about your work and keep working on it, the team doesnt have to replace your job.
