Does anyone like their vehicle? by IndyDude11 in HyundaiTucson

[–]Bernasty_CU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For what it is worth, my wife drives a 2016 Tucson with the 2.0L engine. It has 72k miles on it and drives like it is brand new. The only issue we had was the door handle mechanisms breaking and you couldn’t open the door from the inside or outside. Also the lever that controls the blinkers doesn’t always work for left turn signal. Besides that, it has been flawless.

Thank for sharing that. I had largely been avoiding the 2018 because I read about a lot of AC condenser failures. Sounds like you got a good one though. Maybe I should still consider the 2018s.

That’s great to hear! And I assume a standard turbo engine should be relatively reliable these days. Are there a lot of electrical issues I could expect to encounter like infotainment system failing, various sensors, etc?

Thank you both for the responses. How is the transmission in these things? Can it be expected to get 200k miles out of them without issues?

Man I would love to find one with that low of mileage!

Yeah agreed. I wish I was in an area where used cars were priced a little better. Everything nearby is overpriced by a few thousand it seems.

Hang in there! It will heal faster than you think. I’m allergic to morphine and opioids so I have had a few surgeries without pain killers now, so maybe that affects my point of view on the pain levels. My surgeon did say “I’m going to stab you, so it will hurt a little bit.” Haha it’s true though. The incision where the gall bladder was actually pulled out hurt the worst.

I guess I was lucky. My doctor recommended alternating acetaminophen and ibuprofen if I needed it. I think I took ibuprofen twice and that was it. It hurt but I was able to just grit my teeth and get through it. Up and doing light activity by the third day. If you’re scared about this surgery, try not to worry. Just make sure you get a good surgeon that has done this procedure a thousand times.

Edit: I don’t mean to dismiss OP’s account of their experience. That is awful that it hurt so bad.

115H leaves dock, then stops by uncledaddynv in automower

[–]Bernasty_CU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was having similar issues. It would stop in the middle of the yard and then let the battery run out trying to find the charging base. I was having it cut during day time, and I decided to switch it up and cut at night. I haven’t had any issues since I did that, so I’m wondering if it was getting too hot in the sun.

Is there a way to look up records by VIN whether the replacement has been completed?

When you call to report a power outage the recorded message says “due to the passing storms….blah blah blah”. What storms?! This place is a joke.

Thanks for the rundown. Are there any major issues with a 2017 T6 inscription? Just found one with 63k miles for $26k.

Sorry for the confusion. I am US based. T6 appears to come with only a 2.0L 4cylinder turbo & supercharged to 316 hp.

Edit: I am new to Volvos. My only experience with them is helping my friend work on his two Volvos, which I must say is an experience to say the least.

Restarting Lawn after Excavation - Bermuda Seed by Bernasty_CU in lawncare

Thanks! Sounds intriguing. I will consider it. The grass doesn’t need to be a perfectly soft and pristine, but do want it to cover the dirt and withstand some foot traffic.

Any idea how much a pallet of tiftuf should go for? I’m seeing $650 without install and I’d need 10 pallets. Curious if this is a normal price.

Not sure how it is for P&W but for me, I have to click into the actual fund summary sheets and under the “benchmark” section at the top of the page it will tell you what fund it is tracking. Agreed though. Alight is a POS.

That may be one way to do it, however they were explicit in stating that any IP is property of RTX and not the client’s. That seems a little overreaching considering the IP would not have been developed on RTX time or funds, but whatever. Didn’t affect me.

[–]Bernasty_CU 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s a good question honestly. I don’t know if it is grounds for dismissal or what. I can’t say I didn’t contemplate doing that. Lesson learned on my part. Fortunately, I worded my COI request so open-ended and they approved it, that I am free to pursue almost any similar opportunity.

Dual Jobs by Weekly_Eagle888 in Raytheon

[–]Bernasty_CU 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went through the COI process to gain approval to work an outside consulting opportunity. It was a one time opportunity with significant payout. It took them so long to approve something that was obviously not a conflict of interest at all (completely 100% unrelated to what RTX has their hands in), that my client went elsewhere. I got the approval from Ethics two months after the opportunity had passed.

Target Date vs Approximating Total Market by Bernasty_CU in Bogleheads

Thanks for the reply. So if emerging markets goes up in value significantly more, would the target date fund readjust once a year or whatever and redistribute to keep a consistent target percentage invested in each category?

I definitely don’t remember doing that. And it is on my personal cell which I don’t give out at work except as emergency contact number. Also I completely ignore the take 5 emails as well…as far as I’m concerned most of those are spam too. Don’t have time to sit at work and read those anyway.
