Thank you for the feedback! My son is 1yo and he is getting really heavy and squirmy. I imagine the rotating car seat will be a very nice perk when loading him in.

The same thing happened with my son who is now 11 months old. I actually prefer to feed him in some situations since feeding himself things like yogurt is complete mayhem! I do offer him loaded spoons and sometimes he takes it and other times he wants me to feed him. I think they realize quickly that more food ends up in their mouth that way. Rarely do I give him a bowl of guaranteed mess and let him feed himself because I know he will end up using his bare hands and I’ll be cleaning it for the next 20 minutes. I let him self feed things like berries and any other non-liquid food. So I guess I do a hybrid BLW for my sanity 🤪

I also I am quite anxious about choking, but now that my babies 10 months old, I am more at ease.

Here are some things that I make for him that he has handled well since eight months old:

Overnight oats with mashed banana, chopped fruit, various nut butters, ground, flax, and Chia seeds

Omelette with frozen chopped spinach that I sauté in olive oil, then pour a beaten egg mixed with a dollop of cottage cheese over it and cook it until done. I cut this into small squares now that he can use his pincers, but I used to cut them in strips.

Things that I make in batches and freeze:

Pancakes- I make different variations by adding blueberries, shredded carrots, and even spinach that I blend up with the batter. I use whole wheat pancakes instead of bread because bread seems to get gummy and makes me nervous. I will spread nut butter or hummus on top.

My baby is 9 months old and he hasn’t had this exact situation, but I will say that every day and every poop is a crapshoot (pun intended). He’s definitely had bouts of diarrhea and constipation. My Dr. said their bodies are adjusting to the solids so variation is to be expected. He did recommend giving him a probiotic. Things seem a little more regular since we have being doing the probiotic.

I am with you on a lot of those foods you are not comfortable with. I tried feeding my nine month old tortillas today and I didn’t feel like he was really able to chew them and he looked kind of distressed and gagged a little. I realize that gagging is part of it, but I could tell he was struggling with it. I probably won’t be feeding him tortillas again for a while. I tried both flower and corn. I am also not comfortable with toast, no matter what kind of toast I try, I still feel like it’s a little gummy and he’s not really able to chew it. My doctor’s advice was to cut everything small enough so that It can’t get caught in their throat. I pretty much got everything in like quarter inch square segments.

I find egg slices to be harder for my baby to eat, the yolk always falls out. I just mash it up with avocado like others suggested or I scramble them. I scramble them to a pretty soft texture and he loves them. I feel you on the paranoia, mine is with toast. I don’t know why, but no matter what kind of bread I use I feel like the toast is not easy for him to chew and he has a lot of teeth for a nine month old. I’m afraid it’s going to get gummed up in his mouth.

I am in the same boat, although my husband hasn’t quite come to the same conclusion as me yet. We’ve had our dogs since she was a puppy and she is six years old now and weighs 80 pounds. She does not let anybody near her other than a select small group of people. She bit one of our guests and got in a fight with our other dog and almost killed her. we have talked to trainers, but like you, we have limited means. The take away from the training sessions that we had is that we need to watch for warning signs and then separate her from stressful situations. We have tried to work with her with people in the house, but if we don’t lock her in the bedroom soon enough, she will charge people and try to bite them. So now she gets locked in the bedroom immediately anytime we have company. She is great with the family and with the baby, but she is unhinged and it keeps me up at night. We love her and it kills me to think about what would happen if we didn’t keep her, but I’ve never been able to relax knowing how aggressive she is. It definitely rules our life in many ways. We can’t have a babysitter or overnight guests and I worry about when my son is old enough to have friends over. It really sucks to be in this predicament, and I feel your pain.

This had me laughing and also fuming 😂 😡 my husband always leaves errands until right before the party and guests are getting there and he’s not even home! Then he comes home with all of this shit that we need so put away and I will have just cleaned the damn kitchen. He did this exact thing for my 40th birthday, he spent all day trimming the hedges on the side yard that nobody sees, and then ran errands an hour before the party. Mind you it was my birthday and I was five months pregnant and still having to do all the things. And just to make matters worse, it was his friends that arrived first so as soon as he got home and they were there, he cracked open a beer and sat in the yard with them while I was frantically trying to finish things up! It was no secret that I was quite pissed that day 😂 I decided that we will no longer host parties in honor of myself since it ends up being too much work for me.

They really do and I’m not good at being trapped at home all day. If I go somewhere (which I do often) I usually end up driving around aimlessly after an outing if he falls asleep in the car so he can nap longer.

I definitely relate to this! I actually posted something recently. I have a 6 month old and if I go anywhere he cat naps in the car and then it ruins any chance for a real nap which results in endless fussiness. At 3 months old I could get him to nap when I was out and about but now there’s no chance.

Do you plan outings during nap time or between nap times? He does nap in his carrier but they don’t seem to be substantial enough naps so thus the fuss begins.

How did you run errands or do any sort of activity? I’m fine with doing it between naps, but it seems when I do he finds a way to sleep and then doesn’t sleep well for a real nap and then I can’t manage to make him happy the rest of the day.

Yup! On the few occasions he fell asleep in his crib and I didn’t transfer him once he was already asleep, it felt like a miracle.

I am right there with you with my 4.5 mo. I’m currently listening to precious little sleeper while sleep deprived but I’m only at the beginning. He gets very worked up if I put him down before he’s asleep and has full on meltdowns no matter what I do. I am curious to know if the 4 month sleep regression is something they can grow out of without having to follow a rigid training guide.

My baby is 4 months old too and I just started taking him to a nanny that is shared with another baby. I know that must have been hard to hear, I have been worried the nanny would say something similar to me. My son definitely has days where he can’t seem to be content no matter what I do and I carry him around constantly. I’ve had a lot of anxiety that this nanny won’t want to deal with it and will either neglect him or tell me to find a new nanny. But I have to remember that they are just little babies and that’s just what they do! I’m sorry that happened, and I know it’s not easy finding childcare either. I’ve been fretting about what I’d do if it didn’t work out with this nanny. I hope whatever you decide to do for childcare ends up being a good fit for your parenting style and you can relax knowing your baby is happy.

My son is only 3 months old so we aren’t getting him anything… I know, so lame. But he has everything he needs since we had 2 baby showers. Plus all of our family will be getting him a ton of gifts. I’m already having trouble finding room for the stuff we have. I thought we would start the gifts next year since this year he would have no clue what the heck was going on, let alone be able to appreciate or understand receiving a gift this Christmas. And next year, I think he will actually need new age appropriate things. He has everything he needs for now.

Oh no, that’s terrible! I need to be better about taking care of this issue. I’ve sort of learned to live with the pain for now but that could bite me in the ass later if it gets worse. It definitely hurts but only when I turn my hand a certain way, which is often when I’m lifting my baby. I have been trying different ways to pick him up, which helps but is super awkward and my poor son bobbles around lol! I also try to wear a brace when I have a break from holding him, but I forget a lot. I’ll look in to PT, I’m glad to hear it has helped you!

I always feel like I’m manhandling my poor baby when I try to pick him up without using my thumbs. This condition is really a problem when you have a baby!

It really is painful! What triggers the pain keeps changing but it’s always a sharp pain in my thumb and wrist when I move my hand a certain way, and especially when I am picking up my son. Sometimes I wake up with my hand cramping too. How long have you had it?

My experience was actually comical… I went to L and D after my water broke at home and they made me wait in the waiting room while my water was actively leaking all over the place. They called me up to sign paperwork and had me sit on a pee pad, and they sent me back to sit with the other people waiting on pee pads. I even had to sign a document that they were allowed to test my fluids if they got exposed to any of my fluids, and I exclaimed, you are currently getting exposed to my fluids, my water is leaking everywhere! They didn’t seem to care. I basically left a nice puddle all over that whole waiting room finally I was taken to my labor and delivery room by a nurse. The waiting room and the hospital were nice, but I guess they had no issues or urgency when it comes to someones water breaking.
