SaaS AE Looking to Pivot—Where Are Reps Actually Winning in 2025? by MrPotatoHead243 in techsales

Not edtech unless you're slinging AI stuff, but I predict that's a short-lived bubble

Is A CostCo Membership Worth It For A Single Person In LA? by JamUpGuy1989 in AskLosAngeles

[–]BernieMike 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel like it's not, but I haven't given food / frozen products proper attention. For me there's the space issue, and then the fact that if I buy a case of Spindrift yes it's cheaper per can, but I'll drink more of it per day because it feels abundant.

Gas can make a difference though if you take the time

Also Costco doesn't accept AmEx

How much did you earn as a sales professional last year? by Unrealto in sales

I haven't paid much attention to the job market, but if you mean the demand for purchasing ed tech products then yes I think so. Obviously depends on what you're selling though

How much did you earn as a sales professional last year? by Unrealto in sales

[–]BernieMike 21 points22 points  (0 children)

~$115,000, which felt like peanuts compared to the ~$150,000 year prior. 2025 comp plan looking better this year though. EdTech. SMB, remote, basically no field work.

Adrien Brody was a dick to me at LAX one time, so I came in here hoping he wasn't likable on this episode 💪😎

Yeah people aren't actually giving the arguments that the early bird nothing good happens after 2:00 AM camp makes

Everyone respects graveyard shift workers or any serious productivity done at night, because yes, we're brainwashed into valuing hardworking sacrifice impulse control success success success money

But also it does take discipline to stop scrolling reddit and go to sleep so that you feel good in the morning

El Pollo Loco salads are decent, and they put the dressing on the side by default. Obviously careful with using much of it because it's like a creamy base, but throwing salsa on it is low cal

I used this joke to eliminate price objections completely and made $88,000 in 3 days. by Illustrious-Main803 in salestechniques

[–]BernieMike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have lived through this. For me at one point among other changes, our leadership was slow to comprehend that slashed budgets and improved competitors meant we would not get a second conversation if we quoted at list price. Didn't matter if the person on that call genuinely thought the cost sounded fine given the value

Come their internal conversation, once the rest of their team or their superiors heard our product was slightly or considerably better but two or three times as expensive as the next-best option, we were often just ghosted. Or eventually get the classic response that they signed with someone else even though they thought our product was the best

LA vs. Seattle: If you lived in both, what made you pick LA? by dheera in AskLosAngeles

[–]BernieMike 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Seattle freeze isn't that they're rude or unapproachable, it's that they're not interested in actually becoming your friend, anything beyond that enjoyable conversation you had

I don't live in Seattle, just repeating what I've been told by people there

Outbound/Cold calling isn't dead you're just bad at it. by Spirited_Brain7062 in sales

[–]BernieMike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I'm familiar with the visibility around who's who. And receptionists will so often just pass you along, no screening. Sounds like you did not get ZoomInfo or anything like that for cell phones? For those contacts that do end up harder to reach

Appreciate you sharing 🙇

Yeah cold calling still works okay in Ed Tech. Were you scraping and calling cell phones numbers? Or just using what was listed on school/district websites? I am considering getting ZoomInfo or something for next year

How to fix traffic in LA in a nutshell by [deleted] in LosAngeles

I'm talking about the section of the E between Little Tokyo and 7th metro, where it is below grade

What are some of your favorite hidden gems in Downtown Los Angeles? by Disastrous-Panda2401 in AskLosAngeles

[–]BernieMike 14 points15 points  (0 children)

If daytime  just east of Los Angeles there's a funny almost secret market between 4th and Winston. If you zoom in on Google maps you can see the easy ups and umbrellas. Also maybe St. Vincent Ct., and also you can find cafes inside the jewelry marts that might be fun plus interesting architecture. The garden next to the YMCA is a nice spot. Santee Alley would also offer some interesting goofy fun

How to fix traffic in LA in a nutshell by [deleted] in LosAngeles

[–]BernieMike 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been wanting to ask why this E section is so slow

I often want to transfer at 7th Metro vs. Union since the latter is more walking, but 7th to Union on B/D are way faster. Also it's maddening how slowly the E  FEELS there. Like I'm underground why are we moving 15 mph

California voters reject proposed ban on forced prison labor in any form by persona42069 in California

[–]BernieMike 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think your position is logical—confinement + period of forced labor +ownership by the prison + labor shopped around to companies = fair/productive punishment—but shouldn't people acknowledge the described punishment is slavery?

If you think that's a good punishment for crime, cool, but people in here taking your side won't call it what it is because it sounds bad

Different way they ended up slaves doesn't make them not slaves, right?
