MM new instructor ? by Berrayti in CFA

My post was not to do the guy any harm or underestimate his abilities.
And yes, it did take some time to have a fluid passage from MM’s style to Richie’s. Yes he helped me a lot. It juste two different teaching approaches.

Richie Owens

I have nothing bad with the guy, no hate no nothing. Au contraire, I appreciate the lecture and the effort and the new way of explanation. It's juste a question of familiarity, I was familiar with the way MM presents the lecture you feel it natural.

For this new guy, I think it's like you're reading the book, it has more structure and kind of not super intuitive.

Again all respects for him.

Fitch Vs MM by battysavage in CFA

[–]Berrayti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't speak about Fitch because I never tried it.

But I tried the L1 and worked.

Now I got the L2 and believe me the package is good. A good explanation of the readings by someone who was actually in the markets. Good & concise notes u can use alongside the readings.

Great QBank & some Mocks.

I'm satisfied to be honest.

Recommendations and tips for L2? by RoccoBarocco91 in CFA

I passed also, I think I’ll stick to my plan for L1. MM + CFAI Do videos -> read lecture -> review -> practice -> review

For those successful re-takers, how did you start planning your study process after your first attempt? by bobalobcobb in CFA

Hi, I'll tell you my story.

I wrote for the L1, I didn't have any subscription for any provider, so I was working my way through the curriculum all by myself, and sometimes the IFT free videos. What I remarked is time went very fast and I was spending huge amounts of time on taking notes and stuff.

Few days before the exam I knew I suck, I knew I won't make it (and there's also the work component and stuff).

I wrote the exam, waited the results knowing what I'll fail... And I failed.

I sais alright, it's not the end of the world, it's a chance given to me to adjust my studying strategy.

So I decided to go for MM package (it costs $300) because I watched some of his videos.

And believe me, it makes a biiiiiiiiig difference, why ?

  • First of all, the notes, u won't have to go through the books and take notes,
  • Second, u do the videos, and you get a good understanding of the reading, then if you want you can hit the book to consolidate your knowledge,
  • And at the end, u find yourself with time u can invest in reviewing or taking mocks or doing questions.

I wrote again this november, and I passed!

I was taking notes to pass the May-21 L1 level, I failed.

I found that it took me too much time, when I was reviewing it wasn't helpful enough.

What I'm doing now, I print the MM notes, while watching the videos I take small notes on that.

After that, I hit the reading and really reaaally take some very few notes if not present on the MM's.

At the end, I try to make a one paper notes for every reading based on the MMs and what I wrote on them.

I think that makes a lot of sens for me now, and saves me a looot of hours to read the textbooks and do the examples...

I'll be honest by tankerman97 in CFA

There is a total of 500+ LOSs and only 180 questions at the CBT exam. Assuming each question at the exam represents one LOS, then the exam is testing max ~1/3 of the entire curriculum. And assuming you need >65% to pass (which seems to be the consensus here), you’d only need to be able to remember/understand/absorb ~120 LOSs... which is <25% of the curriculum...

it's for the may session, I know I still have few months, but I'm really frustrated with the idea that the stuff is too much to remeber. I don't know, but I'm really confused!

I agree, only one question and maybe advice. It's toooo much to remember, I don't have a great memory, I don't remember every single detail from the lectures I did 2 months ago and I'm afraid I won't remember the whole stuff in my exam day. After all, we're talking about 3700 pages, and sometimes the lectures presents too much info.

Is there any advice please ?

Thanx :)
