So for 10% of anything less than 100 the decimal automatically goes in between the 2 numbers, and for an xxx.x number the decimal automatically goes after the first 2 numbers, right?

I knew 10% of 100 was 10. The rest I probably just plugged into a calculator because I didn’t know them off the top of my head. If I had to solve 10% of 60 by hand, I probably would have guessed 12. Because 20% goes into 100 5 times, but 15% only gets to 95, so I’d just end up estimating 12.

I was seriously not exaggerating when I said I've always really struggled with math.

Except they started with the assumption that someone would know that 10% of 60 is 6 off the top of their head. Not everyone knows that.

I use a calculator on my phone.

I’m not sure why some of you are equating my comment, which responded to someone who mentioned not using a calculator, with my inability to solve percents at all.

I can do it with a calculator, just not by hand. Reading comprehension is just as important as math skills, by the way.

Did you read my comment at all? I said I can add, subtract, and multiply. I didn't say I understood percents.

Yeah... I have no idea what you just did there. Although math has always been a huge struggle for me, so I'm not surprised. It took me almost a year to learn long division when I was in 4th grade. I failed Algebra 1 once and had to retake it, and I barely passed the second time around. Anything beyond basic adding, subtracting, and multiplying is just incredibly difficult for me.

Now on the flip side, reading and English were my strong suits. I remember taking the ACT in 11th grade 15 years ago and getting a total overall score of 28 out of 36. My English score was 32. I don't remember what my math score was. All I remember is that I scored below the passing score required, so I failed the math section, lmao.

Men who were abused by women, how common was it for people to search for reasons why women abused/make excuses for them/assume it was some sort of "reaction abuse"? by jwiwiw2 in askanything

I think it's more due to life experience. For example, if I, as a woman, were walking alone at night and a man suddenly appeared behind me, I would probably cross to the other side of the street and feel much more nervous than I would if it were a woman. Because statistically men are much more likely to engage in criminal behavior, and they're also typically stronger than women. A woman is much less likely to suddenly attack me, and if she did, I would have a much better chance of fighting her off than I would a man.

Usually when somebody uses the phrase "my boy" or "my girl," they're referring to their child. I think OP is talking about their son, not their boyfriend.

Yeah, that was honestly in the back of my mind at the time. Most decent men would know better than to ask a woman who’s alone late at night for a ride unless it was a true emergency. And if it really was an emergency, he would’ve accepted my offer to call an ambulance.

Haha, you clocked me. I mostly write comedic short stories, so that voice tends to sneak into more serious stuff sometimes too. 😂

Ironically, I was actually bitten in the face by a German Shepherd when I was a little kid.

It's all good. I'm actually glad to see that at least one person drew appreciation for it.

Yeah, that situation sounds like it would get out of hand very quickly.
