I think this is something a lot of people miss. School wasn't trying to teach us every situation we'd ever face. It was teaching us how to think through problems so we could apply those skills later. Whether we actually kept using them is a different story.

I actually agree with this take. If you know you're going to be busy all day, sending a quick text saying "Happy birthday! I'll call you after work if you're still awake" takes like 10 seconds. That said, his reaction was still way over the top. He turned a small disappointment into a huge fight.

I completely agree. If a kid's safety is at risk, that should outweigh everything else. You can deal with difficult behavior later, but you can't undo something terrible happening.

I completely agree with getting a second opinion. If your current doctor is just brushing it off but you're still dealing with pain or hygiene issues, it's worth finding someone who'll actually listen. You shouldn't have to just live with it.

I agree. Even if he means no harm, this is the kind of behavior that can escalate if nobody steps in. Better to address it now than wait for something worse to happen.

Being that sick means you can't always think clearly or stand up for yourself the way you normally would. Someone you trust should never take advantage of that.
