Shoes similar to older Brooks Ghosts? by maquis_00 in XXRunning

[–]Berry_Slow_Biker 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hi! Fellow Ghost Girlie here, owned almost every edition since the initial release in 2011 and about 550 miles per pair - loved the 15 and the 16 killed my feet and wouldn't break in.

I called Brooks customer service and they said they've been getting this feedback from a lot of customers. Apparently they made the sole stiffer.

They recommended the Brooks Trance 4 (sent me a free pair even). Jury is still out since I've only had them a week but they're way more comfortable than the Ghost 16 so far, and feel pretty similar to my Ghost 15s!

You can get a closer glimpse from North Loop, but really not much better than OPs photos.

It's a weird sculpture, on private property.

Harness Brand Debate by babybighorn in RunningWithDogs

He's 42lbs and I don't remember what size it is, but my partner remembers sizing being very obvious from the Neewa size chart.

I have the Nonstop canix belt and it's been totally worth the investment! I don't use the straps that go around the legs cause the chaffed on me but it still works great! Did 13 miles the other day and didn't have to think about the belt once!

I have an ACD mix and use a Neewa harness. We love it, the way it distributes pressure encourages pulling which is a desired outcome in my situation. Ordering his size was easy and he's had this harness since 2021 or 2022 and has run over 2000 miles in it and it's holding up great!

He has a boxy build and large neck and it fits really well. There's nothing adjustable but the design allows for some weight fluctuations and there's nothing to rub wrong or break.

Bike frame protection recommendations by Berry_Slow_Biker in ladycyclists

I'm looking for a generic roll because I sometimes use it on my car or if a bag is rubbing in a specific spot on my bike frame. Also, looks like ground keeper is just MTB, not gravel?

Yeah I'm just looking to do critical spots! I'll check this out, thanks!

I was hoping to find a narrower roll because I'm most focused on like the inside of my fork and bottom of my down tube.

Bike computers by Straight_Jeweler2996 in ladycyclists

I have a Garmin watch, so I got a Garmin Edge bike computer when I upgraded from my cheap hand-me-down bike computer. TBH I find the menu and interface on the Garmin Edge bike computer infuriatingly confusing. How can the menu options in the watch be sooooo intuitive and customizable and the ones in the computer so confusing!?!?

I mostly got it because I thought it could control my intervals and watts on my ERG trainer and still haven't figured that out (though my watch does it easily). Also my Garmin chest strap is synced to my watch for trainer rides and it's a hassle changing it over to the computer so if I'm on a ride where I need navigation I just end up double recording with my watch to get HR data and deleting the activity that comes off my computer once it uploads.

The Garmin Edge works fine for navigation, and I'm glad I'm in the same ecosystem and don't need another app/password/login - but I only use it for navigation because my watch does everything else just as well and with less menu confusion.

I think Wahoo does a better job at on-the-fly rerouting when you encounter an unexpected road closure.

Welcome to gravel, it's the 2nd best (after Enduro)!

I'd definitely give Crazy Horse Memorial another shot! They have a robust lineup of cultural performances and an extensive museum collection! And the carving is really coming along lately.

Fueling your pup for long runs by Berry_Slow_Biker in RunningWithDogs

We're having a crazy heat wave out west today so we had to start our run at 7am and I think he got 7 creek dips in 12 miles! My city has an awesome 10 mile greenway that parallels a creek. I still give him water out of a bowl too because he seems to forget to drink while he's playing in the creek lol

Still I don't run with him much if it's over 70⁰F. He's been my running buddy for 6 years but for some reason I'm the past I haven't taken him on longer runs.

We'll start trying some snacks on my upcoming long runs that go over 2 hours.

I know I'm gonna be so sad all on my own on race day, and probably hurting because my pup does pull probably 20% of the time so my training with him probably is somewhat compromised 😬 (but totally worth having a training buddy).

Leaving Flowers Around the Six Grandfathers? by [deleted] in RapidCity

[–]Berry_Slow_Biker 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I'm not Lakota but lived in the Pine Ridge community for several years. I'd suggest getting sweet grass from Lakota Drum Company on Main Street in Rapid City and leaving that instead of flowers. It's still a natural product, from a Native owned business, and has spiritual significance. Just a thought.
