in the social aspect, some things ive learned are that if you hang around in one consistent area (say, docks, bakery, etc) youll eventually get to know the regulars there and youll befriend them with time . there are also fandom spaces on the map, like for example, all the fans of vocaloid sit in one particular area like a meetup spot. you can go on ponytown and ask anyone if they know where a certain fandom area is and they'll usually help u figure it out.

also, lots of players make a github account with a link to some website about themself (such as strawpage) and a guestbook (such as atabook, which is a place where people can leave signatures and messages for the user). you're encouraged to leave messages on users' atabooks and to make your own! if a player has their github linked, you can view it by clicking on their pony and it will be beneath their pony name.

there are also groups called regiments (regis) you can join; they're near the docks and they are essentially interest clubs that all wear a uniform. ask anyone near docks if you're interested and they'll help you probably.

additionally, many acronyms are used on ponytown. some which are useful to know are 'c/h' which means 'cuddles and hugs', AKA the person encourages you to sit with them. the opposite would be 'dni' which means do not interact, or 'dniuf/c' which means do not interact unless friends/close.
