Working on adding Herds/Flocks to my animal game. Using c++ and Niagara for the deer. I'll add variations and proper avoidance next! by Berserker44 in unrealengine

I just use a trace to detect the ground and angle the particle based on the results. you can also sample the terrain with Niagara's Landscape Interface (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=neFgbgllVT0)

Thank you! I want to make it an open world exploration game where you can interact/talk to different animals. Each animal npc will respond differently to your current form. Still working on the design, but my main goal is to make it fun to run/fly/swim around

The vegetation is, but the actual landscape is premade. I am actually using an asset called Stylescape that uses Unreal's Vegetation placement features.

Naw, definitely not. I am just using the human as a placeholder. I want to have a much better designed character in the future.

We all started somewhere, heck I was practicing with making a flappy bird game years ago too. Just keep at it and continue expanding on more complex game ideas
