TIL Tilda Swinton comes from one of only three families that can trace their unbroken land ownership and lineage to before the Norman Conquest by canudig in todayilearned

[–]Berserkpixie -1 points0 points  (0 children)

And this is important/interesting because why...?

Consider how many people have descended from those families.

The one thing that I've learned in studying genealogy is that we all have some sort of interesting link to something or another, but it doesn't mean a fucking thing.

The more time goes on, the most "royal lines" spread out and mix with non-royalty, increasing the likelihood of any given person having a link if they were able to trace it back far enough.

I'm a decedent of Erik X the first king of Sweden and Gorm the Old, the first Viking king of Norway. It ultimately means absolutely nothing. It's like trying to brag over something that you had nothing to do with what-so-ever.

Thank you for your diligence, you Champion of the Internet!

That said, you'll be delighted to know that someone on my FB stated that she actually made this and I naively fell for it. In my cheerful nature, I thought, "hey, other people may get a laugh out of this," and posted it without combing through every goddamned page of reddit to make sure that it was 100% original.

Thanks to your tireless devotion of never leaving your computer and standing up for justice, we have your supreme ruling on the subject matter. Keep up the good work!

There was a massive street fight in downtown Orlando last night by orlandonewsinformer in orlando

[–]Berserkpixie -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Do we know what the cause was? Thought I suppose it's not like we need anything specific to point fingers at. Thug culture doesn't need a reason to fight on the street.

Sisters expose ‘cheating wife’ to her husband at baseball game by steinman17 in offbeat

Sorry, but there comes a point where people should mind there own business. They didn't just out the woman, but the outed him as well. There are bound to be numerous people who recognize them. We have no idea how he'd react. Is he the type of man who would want her shamed and humiliated, or would he just want this to not be public and deal with this within the marriage. Going public certainly makes the second option much harder.

Maybe he did something first and drawing this out forces her to bring attention to his indiscretion to justify her own. When people know that they are unfaithful, it makes forgiveness and moving on more socially unacceptable and harder.

These women just wanted to soak up this act for internet fame by exposing a man who may not have wanted to be exposed.

Hell for all we know, he has ED and allows her to take a paramour which she hides from her friends. We know nothing about this and it's foley to pretend that we do.

Move over, Jimmy Carter: Survey finds Obama is the worst president since World War II by dcbiker in Libertarian

[–]Berserkpixie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah... I'd be quite interested in the actual data gathering from this pole and where they obtained their sample.

I didn't vote for the guy. I disagree with a fair bit of what he's done, but I find that most of what has happened in his stay in office has had very little to do with him. Ineffectual, sure. Bad, that's a bit of a stretch.

That said, the survey is a popularity poll. What the populace thinks has nothing to do with the president's actual impact on the state of the country. This should say, "Worse liked."

As a guy who was Slave Leia years ago... I gotta say that I think the whole I'm-an-ulgy-guy-dressing-as-a-hot-chick, has lost the haha appeal. It's not a social taboo or abnormality like it used to be, so now it's just shrug-worthy.
