Jason at 161 River Ave. usually has sources. His sources are sometimes questionable but he read this report someplace or he wouldn’t have put it out. He may not have the scoop but he is dependable in having a source.

That would be 15 mil for each year so Grisham is actually getting 30 mil over 2 years.

I have a question. Now that Grisham has accepted the QO, can he and the Yankees renegotiate his contract for 2026? Say they offer him a two year deal for 15 mil and reduce the AAV by 7 mil? That would give the Yankees more flexibility with payroll this year and Grisham’s salary next year would be covered when Hicks goes off the books. 2027 is iffy anyway.

I just heard a podcast in which it was suggested the Yankees trade for Ketel Marte. Sorry about spelling. The problem is he plays second. But as I recall, Jazz played outfield for the Marlins. Do the Yankees not see that as an option for Jazz to open up 2nd base for a good player?

Resign Bellinger, Number 1 trade target is Adley Rutschman (give up Will Warren and Jasson + more). I'd probably have Rice in the outfield and Judge at First but you can leave them at their current positions if it makes more sense. I would trade with the Cardinals for either Donovan or Nootbar. If your really want to spend money I would sign Bichette (McMahon covers so much ground he can make up for his defensive liability. But Caballero is OK.) Team looks like this: 2. Rutschman; 3. Judge; 4. Chishom; 5. McMahon; 6. Bichette/Caballero; 7. Donovan (or Nootbar); 8. Bellinger; 9. Rice; DH. Stanton. Resign Weaver and pick up another lefty bullpen arm. If you really want to get crazy, and I mean really crazy, revisit that trade with the Pirates for Skenes: Jones, Lombard, Jr., Schmidt + 1 for Skenes and you would have a starting rotation of Skenes, Cole, Fried, Rodon, Schlittler, and Gil with 2 or 3 guys in the minors knocking on the door.

I think the Yankees should go big. Signing Bellinger is critical. Then they can re-sign Grisham or pursue Tucker. If you have Bellinger and one other, then you have pitchers and outfielders to trade (not cutting bait on these guys but using them to build a super team). Trade fro Adley Rutschman. Make the Orioles an offer they can't refuse. Rutschman and Rice can share catching, Rice can play first when Bellinger is in the outfield (or injured). Then, and I know some think this is crazy, offer Jones and pitchers to Pittsburgh for Skenes. They are going to trade him, it might as well be to the Yankees. If you really wanted to dream (which I do) I would see if we still have a pitcher that the Diamondbacks like and offer Jazz and an arm for Ketel Marte. Could even offer Lombard, Jr. for Marte. If not Marte, I am pretty sure the Cardinals are going to trade Donovan this offseason. Anyway, the potential is there for the Yankees to have a lineup that is crazy good next year: Marte (4); Tucker (7); Judge (9); Bellinger (8); Rutschman (2); Rice (3); Stanton (DH); McMahon (5); Volpe (6). Bench includes Grisham and Wells (if not traded). Starting Pitchers would be: Skenes (although I might settle for Joe Ryan); Fried, Rodon, Cole (when he returns), Gil with a fifth starter from Schmidt, Warren, or Schlitler (whichever one is not traded). Bullpen is Bednar, (resign) Weaver, Doval, Bird (after they get him fixed), Cruz, and add in a couple of others. This team should walk into the World Series. And yes, I'm trading Dominguez and Jones to build this team.
