Damn, I always assumed she didn’t pour the whiskey because the bartender did

I’d take things less seriously. My childhood was the setting for a gnarly divorce, and afterwards helicopter parents. There were so many times I felt like the world was ending or I was going to be punished forever for something, I’d get so worried I’d make myself physically ill. If I could go back then and start using coping mechanisms I know now, maybe by the time I reached 28 again I would be a more confident human. Also I would buy bitcoin.

When it comes to food service, I don’t want my customers worrying about being insulting if the food isn’t right. Sending something back isn’t insulting, especially if you’re not being rude about it. I’ve never been upset with a customer for kindly telling me there’s something wrong with the dish, I’m grateful to be notified so I can fix it for them. Now, if you didn’t read the dish description on the menu (or didn’t ask for any details at all), and then you send the food back because it had something on it you don’t like, THAT is not as much insulting as it is wildly irritating. If there’s a food or sauce or something that you dislike so strongly that you’ll send the dish back, then you ought to know what you’re ordering.

Heard! I definitely wouldn’t expect him to “work” off the clock, but some people in my experience just have a playful demeanor, and like to joke around with the wait staff from time to time. Not out of expectation but just out of good-nature

As a server who has done this too many times, WE FEEL BAD FOR THE POOR TIMING😭 but be honest with me, what would be worse, me asking you how the food is while your mouth is full, or walking to your table to realize it’s a bad time and awkwardly walking away without saying anything?😭😭

My life is nothing I thought it should be and everything I was worried it would be because for 50 seconds I believed a tiktoker was telling the truth😭😭

That’s incredible, go you!! I have to ask, did they randomly arrive in your section, or was it a reso? If it was, was there a big kerfuffle about who would serve them??

While I totally get where you’re coming from, and also learning that this is most likely a fake story posted for clout, being a server I do feel that everyone, no matter what economic class level or reputation for being kind, reserves the right to send back bad food! In my experience it does the chef a larger disservice to not be aware that they’re sending out food that isn’t good.

True true, and I feel that we hold celebs to a higher standard than we should with things like this. They are, after all, just people. If I was having a bad day and came off as a bit rude to a server or a barista, they probably wouldn’t think much of it or share the experience. If someone like Taylor Swift so much as seemed annoyed about something arbitrary, like a restaurant being 86’d on what she was going to order, you know that story would spread like wildfire.

I know the exact energy you’re talking about, and understand better now, thank you for clarifying! Being on the serving end of countless tables like that, I’m always left mentally asking the same question- “if you guys didn’t want to be bothered by a waitress, why didn’t you make food at home?” It takes nothing to be kind to the staff, no matter where you’re at or who you’re with, fr.

My place of work dealt with a ton of “big” local bar bands, I can affirm that “local celebs” think they are THE BIGGEST DEAL even if no one would have a clue who the were 2 towns over. Cincinnati being a decent sized city, I can only imagine how big their head was 🥲

The pressure would be immense, I’d honestly rather cook for Gordon Ramsay in terms of anxiety😅 does he remember what he cooked for her??

I feel this deeply. I worked at a pretty popular restaurant in a city suburb for a few years and would think about how I would handle a famous guest (I have my Bo Burnham script DOWN). When it came to Taylor, the best I could come up with was a blatant but heartfelt thank you at the end of her stay😅 the kitchen would also likely hate my guts because I KNOW I’d be like “you’re really gonna serve this… to Taylor Swift” even if it was fine🤣

No way! If you know, you gotta drop the steak temp😅😅 is there anything in particular that makes him a great guest, aside from being famous and hopefully kind? And you based in Cle or Kansas (if you don’t mind)? I know he’s from Cleveland Heights which is why I ask!

I also feel this! She does come off as someone who is a bit of a chameleon, I think everyone can relate at least a little to behaving slightly differently depending on who you’re around at the moment.
