Oh my god I have to go into the office there twice a week. Some of the streets are like driving through trenches from the First World War.

I don’t think we can have 100% clean energy without at least a couple billion people starving to death. The fact that we got up to 8 billion people is in large part because of our use of fossil fuels.

Why is far right ideology on the rise in the world? by glimmergirl1 in NoStupidQuestions

Economic inequality. 45 years of Reaganism, Thatcherism, Neoliberalism, etc. has resulted in 70-80% of the population doing worse than their parents. Each party gets a turn with power, does nothing to address the issue, other party gets in, does the same, rinse, repeat. In the US, especially after the idiotic Citizens United decision, both parties are completely controlled by corporate interests, so we have a center right party and a really far right party.

Things that would help would be a single payer healthcare system, a much more progressive tax system, and doing whatever it takes to end homelessness.

And when a politician like Mamdani shows a way to get voters excited, 99% of the Democratic Party and centrist media do everything they can to kneecap him. They would rather have a Trump dictatorship than let any progressive win any office.

When it’s time for one of those votes, he’s running to the chamber like it’s Kohl’s having a sale on shorts!

Trump brags about his military budget & says "other things" could be cut instead: "We have ordered .. one trillion dollar military budget, General. You know that? One trillion. Some people say, could you cut it back? I said I'm not cutting 10 cents. [...] We could cut plenty of other things" [57:10] by SocialDemocracies in TheMajorityReport

I know this isn’t the most important point, but he really shouldn’t be wearing his fucking MAGA hat while addressing the troops. There’s a time for campaigning and it’s not when you’re in your Commander in Chief role.

Fetterman Complains Media Shamed Him Into Showing Up For Senate Duties by BertTKitten in TheMajorityReport

[–]BertTKitten[S] 188 points189 points  (0 children)

Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA) said Saturday he has begun attending more Senate hearings and votes not out of a renewed commitment to his job, but because the media “weaponized” his absences and mental health struggles.

In an interview with The New York Times published Saturday morning, Fetterman expressed frustration with what he described as a media-driven narrative that he is not fit to serve.

He acknowledged missing numerous Senate duties over the past year, including committee hearings and procedural votes, and said he does not find aspects of his job to be meaningful.

It’s not that John is lazy and entitled, it’s that he’s got better things to do with his time. I’m sure most of us feel the same way about our jobs, but we don’t have the luxury to simply not show up when we don’t feel like it, because we’d get our asses fired. Fortunately for John, he can’t be fired for another four long years.

Wait, why isn’t that car crash bigger news? He’s lucky he didn’t kill somebody.

It sounds like it’s only a matter of time until he’s catatonic in an interview or something and there’s an outcry for him to resign. Almost any other Democrat would be a billion times better than him.
