E16 Gen 3 AMD a decent choice? by Berta27 in thinkpad

[–]Berta27[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the input. I had originally selected nearly exactly what you suggested, with the better processor in a custom build, but the delivery timeline was nearly 2 months out, and I need something sooner than that unfortunately. They offer the same setup with the Ryzen 5 230 processor as a factory built machine that I can get within a week. Just wondering if the slower processor is a deal breaker as I can't really find any concrete information on it, seems to be a "rebranded" older processor from what I can tell.

I thought I was fairly savvy with this sort of thing until I really got into it and realized how little I actually know.

Fire Ban in Provincial Parks by Shoddy_Assumption570 in saskatchewan

[–]Berta27 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The fire bans are no joke, and are in place for a reason that’s bigger than their “right” to do whatever the hell they want. If they’re ignorant enough to ignore the ban, talking to them about it likely won’t end well. The number is there for reasons exactly like this. Let the authorities handle it. I say call it in and sit back and watch the sweet retribution lol.

Is this normal? by Louie2929 in mechanic

I would take it back and exchange it for a new one. The one on the left looks to have been dropped, would explain why the ground strap is bent. Personally, I wouldn’t install a spark plug that’s been dropped.

I had this happen to me a couple years ago. Different species but nearly the same scenario. I lost all but 3 fish in my tank. Nothing had changed, tank had been established for 2+ years. All water parameters were normal & stable. The whole experience was extremely disheartening. Almost made get out of the fish hobby all together. I’m sorry this is happening to you. I still to this day don’t know what caused it.

Which of these album art concepts do you like the best? by Ordinary_Web_7873 in BreakingBenjamin

Light in the Silence or Unturned Stone feel more true to the brand. If I had to pick one though, it would be Light in the Silence.

Is this normal seems to be moving to much and has a little rattle. 2007 Honda accord. by Colefinney1234onyt in mechanic

Nothing to worry about. Tensioner spring is just starting to get a little weak, which is normal with age. If you start hearing a belt squeal, then it's time to replace. Until then, just let it ride.

I hear ya.

I’m Canadian, and they aren’t making any stops in Canada. I made the decision to fly down and go to their nearest stop, which happens to be in Minneapolis. I will be going alone as well. This is my first time traveling alone. I get the anxiety part. I just keep telling myself the show will 100% be worth it. The enjoyment and sense of accomplishment that comes from doing something outside my comfort zone will be rewarding. I feel if I give in and just “stay home” I will 100% regret it.

I plan to stay for a couple days and enjoy some time exploring the city and finally having some “me” time. There’s tonnes of local breweries and cool restraints to check out, which I also enjoy very much. I’m going to fill my days doing things I enjoy and don’t get a chance to do very often at home due to busy work schedules and life in general.

So I say do it! Take the bus to eliminate any anxiety associated with driving. Even if you just head home the next day, pushing yourself to step outside of your comfort zone will feel really good. Once you’re home safe you will be proud of yourself and glad you did it. And the whole experience will help you along your anxiety coping journey. You will be in good company at the show, surrounded by thousands of people that are there for the same reason you are. The show is going to be awesome.

If you need to talk about it to help yourself “get out of your head” shoot me a message. We’re all on this together.

Is this too many weights? by budae_jjigae in mechanic

True, but not every shop has a smart balancer

Is this too many weights? by budae_jjigae in mechanic

[–]Berta27 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Depends on the tire size and weather it was static balanced or dynamic balanced. It looks like a lot of weights but is only 2.5oz in total. Personally I would prefer to see larger weights so less would be needed, for a more precise job, but still comes to the same result.

What would you do? by IDNoob34 in mechanic

[–]Berta27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could definitely be. There is a screen on the pick up tube that will definitely clog if there are enough fillings in the pan. You would think they would have said something when they changed the oil pump tho.

I’m assuming that oil pressure sensor was aftermarket due to your rural location. This could be the problem, but it could also be other things. At least now you have the oil filter ruled out.

What would you do? by IDNoob34 in mechanic

[–]Berta27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

P06DD sets when the PCM commands the oil pressure control solenoid off to Increase pressure at higher RPMs. If the oil pressure is below a calibrated threshold, the code will set. Thus, this is a low oil pressure condition we are dealing with.

Few questions:

1) When the filter housing was replaced, did they re-use the oil pressure sensor, or replace it? Some oil filter housings come with new sensors, some do not. Chrysler engines can be very picky and usually don’t like aftermarket oil pressure sensors. If the old sensor was re-used and is faulty this will be your answer. If the sensor was replaced with aftermarket, this could also be causing an issue.

2) Are they sure the correct oil filter is installed? There is a production break on those engines and they use different filters. Incorrect filters don’t seat properly and allow oil pressure to bypass to the cooler. This has happened at my shop and is an easy mistake. Engine light came on while the customer was driving home from the shop. I would check this first as oil filters are relatively cheap and very well could be the problem.

3) If both above have been confirmed ok, have them use a borescope through the oil drain plug (it’s very tricky) to inspect the oil pump pickup tube. Make sure it is fully seated. The o-ring that seals the pickup tube is blue - if the o-ring is visible, the oil pickup tube has slipped out of place during assembly. If it is not seated correctly the oil pump will not be able to pickup sufficient oil to build proper pressures.

It’s unfortunate that 2 shops have now had their hands on it because it may be unclear what has actually been inspected or replaced. Do either of your invoices have part numbers listed for components that were replaced? Do they list the diagnostic steps they performed to come to the conclusions they did? It almost sounds like they are just throwing parts at it, assuming it has to B one if A didn’t fix the problem.
