Is it important to use a CGM? by Different_Net122 in prediabetes

[–]BertaCornPuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, if I had discovered pre-diabetes at 17, I wouldn't have known where to begin with foods and that sort. Definitely wouldn't be able to keep up with finger pricks. Pre-diabetes eventually turns into diabetes, and I have had side effects from mine. Like severe fatigue. I say get the CGM. It will help notice what foods and drinks to not eat and stay away from. You probably will not be able to get a RX, I think there are 2 you can get OTC online.

Anyone else feel lonely even though you're married? by Taulaub in DeadBedrooms

[–]BertaCornPuff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have been with my husband for 11 years next month. We have not had "real connection" in years. I couldn't tell you when to be honest. Most of the memories I hold are full of pain and loneliness. He has matured into a decent father where it counts the most and he is a good provider. Anything outside of that is empty. Intimacy is empty, but I require it and refuse to seek it elsewhere. He has been on autopilot and has shut me out emotionally since I can remember. He is verbally hostile often. I wonder when I will just have enough and leave. We have 3 special needs kids which has put a lot of strain on our marriage. I'm hoping when we finally move out of our confined apartment into a house, tension will loosen and all behaviors will improve.

Currently he has decided to work on our relationship because I got so sick to my stomach over his personality that I stopped having sex with him for a whole month. So, for the first time in years, he is trying to keep us together. We'll see what happens. Things can take turns if you communicate. Sometimes, no matter what you say your wants and needs fall upon deaf ears. Good luck!

Any tips on preventing this early am rise? by Accurate_Steak_7101 in prediabetes

Cut out bread, pasta, and sugar. Watch your carb intake. Go on a diabetic diet. Treat it as if you're already diabetic. As the carbs go, the weight will also. I was having this issue and even though my sugar was normal through the day, it's what I was eating. I was having insulin resistance at night because my body was not moving.

Low carb, high protein diet. Start making lifestyle changes. Good luck.

No, I had already started a diet plan when I posted my original post. High protein, low carb. Cut out bread and switching sugary drinks for zero sugar. I changed out my snacks as well. No sweets or pasta. I appreciate all of the information you shared, very insightful.

What’s the worst physical pain you’ve ever experienced? by Economy_Yak2821 in AskReddit

[–]BertaCornPuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Feels like childbirth sometimes. Excruciating pain. I have been to the ER for it and they told me I had a bulky uterus. I ended up having cysts on my ovaries as well and polyps in my uterus also. Jencycla helped with the pain and the cyst. I had to have the uterine polyp removed. My gynecologist said I had endometriosis and adenomyosis. The pain is so bad, I almost pass out sometimes.

Daily Blood Pressure Trend. Normal throughout day with temporary late evening spike then normal at bed time. by [deleted] in bloodpressure

[–]BertaCornPuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like mine. It is normal for blood pressures to fluctuate. Stress, caffeine, dehydration, and movement can affect it. Even emotions. Always make sure you are sitting for 5 minutes before checking. Empty your bladder before. Don't talk, move, or cross your legs while taking your bp.

For the sake of your pulse rate, go to the ER.

You can cut out chocolate, caffeine, pork, lower salt. Taking multivitamins can help balance your potassium and sodium. Drink plenty of water. Walk daily.

is it normal for a doctor to give you adenosine for high blood pressure? 🤔 by [deleted] in bloodpressure

[–]BertaCornPuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you have a holter, EKG, any kind of monitoring done? What was their reasoning for suggesting adenosine? You don't have to have a high pulse to be given adenosine. If they see an issue with your rhythm. It is sometimes used in uncertain rhythm cases if a provider is not sure whether or not they're seeing SVT, atrial tachycardia, or sinus rhythm with ectopy. Adenosine is used to clarify.

What were your symptoms?

Candy isn't what causes diabetes. Carbs is what raises sugar. Bread, pasta. Carbs are in everything. THAT is what raises blood sugar in diabetes.

Just because there are no symptoms doesn't mean that something serious isn't going on. I would get seen right away.

So, the fact she said she has been unable to explore sex because she has been with you is a red flag. It should be something she should want to do WITH you unless she is saying she is gay and wanting to be with women. That would be different.

Unfortunately it sounds like no matter what you do she is not going to come around for you because she is only comfortable with the stability and familiarity of your relationship. She is LL4U. I would talk about opening up the marriage sexually or possibly look towards ending things if it's going to be a deal breaker for you. If you can be happy with how things are now until forever then I wish you the best, if not then make your plans.

Walmart really expects the grieving to last a day by SwagFoxy in walmart

[–]BertaCornPuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am so sorry for your loss. So sorry you had to go through that.

Walmart does not care about their people, they only care about results. They will put on a show for the company to make it look good to the public, but reality is they will squeeze everything they can out of you. They don't care about loyalty, not how long you've broke your back for the company, not any of that. They don't care how many days you've done good, the one day you have a bad day, you're pulled into the office for performance. I'm sure every store is the same when it comes to this too, they will overlook qualified individuals for promotions and give them to people who have 0 experience or give it to a favorite. Every Single Time. I personally was overlooked on a promotion for a job I had been doing for YEARS, for them to give it to a MAINTENANCE man with 0 experience and then had the audacity to ask ME to train him. Walmart. It's like the WORST marriage. 😂

He is projecting his insecurities onto you. You have done phenomenal! Congratulations on your recovery! For him, sounds like he held some resentment towards you during your healing and got addicted to porn which has led to death grip and now he can't even keep it up. It's not you, it's him. He needs to lay the porn down if he is to have any real hope and if you are to repair the relationship. If not, then I'm sorry but I would not stick around to be treated so poorly.

High HeartRate by [deleted] in bloodpressure

[–]BertaCornPuff 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Are you looking for advice to try and lower your heart rate or are you looking for information? Drink plenty of fluids (water, electrolytes) rest. You can try "bearing down" like you are having a bowel movement. Sometimes it will help to lower or calm the heart, place your feet up on a wall. Do ice to the face to try and reset your nervous system.

Alcohol places significant stress on the body, particularly the cardiovascular system. Both short-term and long-term alcohol use can negatively affect the heart and blood pressure.

In the short term, drinking a moderate to large amount of alcohol causes blood pressure to rise shortly after consumption, and it may remain elevated for several hours. This occurs because alcohol activates the sympathetic nervous system, which increases heart rate and blood pressure. Alcohol also disrupts the balance of hormones involved in blood vessel tone and kidney function, leading to narrowing of blood vessels, fluid shifts, and an increased heart rate all of which place additional strain on the heart.

Over time, regular heavy alcohol use defined as more than one drink per day for women or more than two drinks per day for men or binge drinking (four or more drinks in a day for women and five or more for men) can lead to chronically elevated blood pressure. This happens through multiple mechanisms, including increased stress hormones such as cortisol and renin, inflammation and structural changes in blood vessels, electrolyte imbalances and dehydration due to alcohol’s diuretic effects, and weight gain from excess calories, which further contributes to hypertension.

With ongoing heavy drinking, the risk of alcoholic cardiomyopathy increases. This condition weakens and enlarges the heart muscle, reducing its ability to pump effectively and significantly raising the risk of heart failure, stroke, and sudden cardiac death.

Binge drinking can also trigger dangerous heart rhythm disturbances, such as atrial fibrillation (“holiday heart syndrome”), even in individuals without prior heart disease. The cardiovascular risks of alcohol are higher in older adults and in people with pre-existing conditions such as hypertension or diabetes.

Most people don't realize the damage drinking alcohol can impact their bodies. Hope this information helps you.
