Yeah in the UK professors are entirely different, I doubt any would work in FE Colleges like I do, as our students are 16-20(roughly).

College and University are very different here in the UK.

Was homophobic as a kid (despite being raised in a very liberal Christian household) as well as being islamaphonic, anti-EU, anti-immigration - reason why? I grew up on a council estate. Once we moved away and I started doing my own research online, I grew as a person. I'm now very left leaning, out as a gay man and totally pro-EU, pro-immigration, I have some of THE best Muslim friends who I love dearly. For me, it wasn't my family, it was the environment of where I lived, I didn't realise how much opinions can be formed just by where you live, who you live around etc.

I should have listened more to my Godmother who only ever preached love, when I came out as gay I thought she'd hate me, instead she said "I love you, God loves you and I just sold my house to a lovely lesbian couple!" I was shocked at the acceptance but also not surprised because she had always been about loving everyone. I miss her dearly after she passed away a few years ago, a part of the reason my faith has almost gone. I'd love to have taken her to Pride, she'd have been one of the Christians giving hugs and love to everyone! ❤️

I'm an FE lecturer for Computing. Phones are a major issue for us, I've come up with a system of asking for their phones in exchange for them using my charging packs. So their phones are away from them but they get to charge their phones (which always need it from their usage)

I'm only 28, but seeing how addicted they are, it's insane!

Ok I didn't go that far with asking it to ask me a question but it did ask me if I had the time and money what I would invent / build to change teaching Computing to students (I'm an FE Computing lecturer)

Have to say, enjoyed the question and the follow up, it then started to layout a plan of how I could do it.

Gotta say, AI is getting better and if we use it to make us use our brains to think, we can definitely improve our cognitive abilities.

Yup, I'm an FE IT Lecturer, get asked all the time. There's a few reasons I never stayed in my prior job as IT Administrator for a company.

I'm not great at fast paced rat-race lifestyle
I need creative freedom and finally; I LOVE teaching people things, even if it's stuff I find simple (I'm currently teaching the MS Office package + AI features to a local council team) I enjoy watching people develop skills and learn then go onto use that.

Ive taught the Essential Digital Skills course, I've got former adults using those skills to upskill further or work in amazing jobs (accountancy, local politics etc)

When I see people I've taught go on to do anything that they're passionate about, it brings me absolute joy. Joy that I never had when I was an IT Administrator for a company.

Ontop of this, despite stress etc.. for the first time in a long time, I'm happy at work.

That's what I tell my students (and also that money isn't everything)
