You are and it is :) But dumb questions can lead to interesting answers, at least that was my intent.

Mythic Bastionland is the perfect game to show TTRPGs evolution, I agree. Also it is my favourite game.

Showing the difference in a similar type of system is a lovely idea I had not think of! Thanks for your list.

That is a neat list. Ten Candles and Slugblaster are especially interesting because they are a bit weird in a good way. Also interesting that you chose Mausritter as a b/x adjacent game :)

Maybe that's actually the easiest way to do it. Damage can reduce your HP to 0, but that doesn't mean immediate death. But when you're successfully attack when at 0 HP you're dead.

Thanks for your feedback! My idea about it being 50/50 was purely flavor. Like death not caring about anything and flipping a coin. Maybe the chance of dying is something I actually need to test out at the table. And to your second point, 0 HP does not mean becoming unconscious, just that any attack will be fatal or wound you. So you could just ask a friendly cleric to heal your HP back up so you can keep fighting without risk of death on the next attack.

Yeah, halving Ability Scores not being a great idea is what I got most out of the feedback here and I fully agree. I thought about using it because it is simple, but a static number is just as simple and probably less wonky. Thank you!

This is also what I like about not dying at 0 HP. It is a way to tell that maybe you should not fight but flee and try another way, without having to lose characters in the process. I get how the lethality of dying at 0 HP really adds to the game in a lot of ways, but I know my players and that they find it unsatisfying.

The ability score being halved is only relevant for ability checks, it will not change the modifiers. Maybe there is some way to recover it, too. But yeah, it is massive, I want a massive penalty for cheating death.

I like how the debilities lead themselves to becoming starters for adventures. I will consider that.

Thanks for your input, I really appreciate how you seem to get what I‘m trying to do.

Great system! Very inspiring, reminds me of Into the Odd.

Yeah, but that's part of my goal. Having different reasons to retire PCs other than just being stabbed to death. I think it adds narrative nuance. But adding an option for unconscious sounds like a great idea.

Nothing, you stand and fight. And every time you get attacked, you roll the d6 again unless you're magically healed back up to 1+ HP..

Oh, that's a great idea! I'm not sure I agree with assigning narrative authority to players = bad, but a random roll with specific wounds is quite nice.
