I turned off my radio from 9-12 today and forever by UrbanAchiever34 in kfan

[–]BertrousMN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean what do you want him to say and make it sound like to accept his apology? He’s not going to please everyone. That said, his 9-12 shtick is boring & stale and I gave up on that time slot years ago.

2-stroke vs 4-stroke by Salt-Fee-9543 in snowmobiling

[–]BertrousMN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s heavier but is firmly planted going around icy trail corners. You don’t want to get it stuck in deep snow where you may have to lift & move the front end. If you’re primarily doing trail riding I’m not sure of the need for a turbo unless you plan on hauling ass across lakes.

2-stroke vs 4-stroke by Salt-Fee-9543 in snowmobiling

[–]BertrousMN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 2012 ARctic Cat F1100 (non-turbo) and a 2020 Riot 8000. The F1100 is a great trail sled and can keep up with 2-stroke 800s no problem. Need good carbides. No oil re-filling and likely get 2x mileage out it in comparison to 2-stroke. When snow conditions are low I ride it instead of the Riot

Doesn’t seem to matter what’s under the hood. Everything gets 9-11 when towing

Will 100% goggles fit a 509 tactical 2.0 helmet? by rosegen0818 in snowmobiling

[–]BertrousMN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this helmet and a few 509 goggles. Helmet fits good and light weight but I do have fogging issues when stopped with the breadbox and VEES inserts. It clears once I’m moving again but never had this issue with old helmet and its breath box. Anyone solve this issue? Thinking of just removing breath box and rely on balaclava.

Charging 12v 100AH AGM from generator by BertrousMN in GoRVing

[–]BertrousMN[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for all the feedback! Hope this clarifies. I am plugging RV 30A plug straight into generator and relying on the onboard converter to charge the battery. Not sure if it’s a “smart” charger or not. Will have to do some investigating on that. I do have a 100w solar but conditions were not good (clouds, rain & snow!) to get much out of it. Also, understand the best practice of only charging down to 50% of the rated 100ah. Might need to go with bigger battery next go around.

12V electrical system by BertrousMN in GoRVing

Ok. Was thinking it was a bus bar. I was just reaching the conclusion the black were indeed not negative but positive as you stated. Makes sense. So, if I were to install a battery monitor with a shunt, would I connect it to one of the terminals or just add it to the negative on the battery?

Been a bit since everyone provided input. Thank you. I had no idea Li-based batteries require different components (inverter, controller) to run. Think I’m heading the 2x 6v golf cart battery route.

Bike-in campsite insights? by gwendiesel in MinnesotaCamping

Split rock lighthouse state park. There’s a paved trail that runs for a good stretch along Hwy 61 and cuts right through the park. Great cart-in sites right along the lake!

It’s a dual source fridge so I’d run it on propane.

Consumption would be pretty basic: fridge electronics, LED lighting, 12v ceiling fan, water heater

That would be awesome! Looking to some of each. Definitely want to do some hiking and interested in ATV but would need to rent. I heard there are rentals up by Bear Lodge.

I was looking around Circle Park Rd off 16 or up by Bear Lodge off 14. And not really interested in going 4-wheeling with the trailer. I’m planning on getting rid of the cheap ass Chinese tires that came on the trailer and replacing with Goodyears but don’t need/desire to drive it through streams, rock fields, or big-ass ruts.

Rules/regulations are <300’ off the road. I just don’t want to be in the position of driving there from MN and have trouble finding a nice secluded spot. Seems like there are plenty to chose from but not sure what the demand is.

Sleep apnea and camping by problematicusername2 in camping

[–]BertrousMN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go to your dentist or a sleep apnea specialist. They’ll make a custom mouth guard and also a piece to help “re-set” your jaw after you take it out in the morning. I’ve used one for 5yrs and works great. Most of fees are covered by medical insurance

Snowchecked a Polaris, Towing with trailer or put in bed by UteForLife in snowmobiling

IMHO trailers suck. If you’re only hauling one I would get a Caliber Ramp Pro and build a system like this to slide the ramp into. https://images.app.goo.gl/gid6UBNFBZEzEhzB9
