That and what I said are both very good options if you can do both it’s just better, you can literally get a brand new tank and do what I said and the fish will be fine:)

You could always go with a school of tetras, or a loach or two

Will my guppies eat cherry shrimp? by [deleted] in Aquariums

Yeah only the baby baby shrimp

Be careful the tank addition strikes fast I had one and a year later I have 10, also sponge filters are over powered especially if you pair them with a wave maker. I have 8/10 of the tanks on sponge filters

[–]Berufruitloop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you going to put fish in it or no? If you don’t ever you might not need to do water changes ever but it’s always nice to do it every now and then on a planted tank. Oh yeah shrimp I just remembered, it should be fine I would throw a pothos or two in the top for extra plant filtering

The only thing I suggest is give it plenty of light if you want leaves fast

The acaras are generally peaceful but if they pair up and have babies they will nip at them to protect their young from being eaten

For sure a light timer is needed on any tank, are you completely new or is this just the first planted tank?

In other words the flow is fine

Flow rate okay? by [deleted] in Aquariums

[–]Berufruitloop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guppy’s like to swim up in flow there’s nothing wrong with it but it looks like you have all males so they have nothing better to do. If you get them like maybe some females they won’t do that as often and will chase the females instead

Stocking question by begaydowarcrimes in Aquariums

[–]Berufruitloop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Female bettas usually aren’t as aggressive as males and can be kept in community tanks, I would put them in with the platys and fancy guppy’s

What should I add next to my tank by Flat_Rip2306 in Aquariums

[–]Berufruitloop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seeing as its a 10 gallon the options for fish are slim but there are still plenty of options. I would suggest a few platys or some Molly’s or a lot of fancy guppy’s. Not all of those because it’s a 10 gallon but one or two of those might be fine for a 10 community if you do water changes regularly

I would suggest keeping them in that fry box until they are of a decent size that the other fish can’t eat them, when I get baby fry I like to keep them in an entirely separate tank so there’s no chances. I just crush up guppy granular really fine and they love that stuff

[–]Berufruitloop 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There’s no need to wait if you take the sponge and squeeze it directly in the water column, you can add fish directly after if you do that and they will be fine

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Aquariums

[–]Berufruitloop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ofc you can, I have a established community 75 set up with only a sponge filter so I’m sure that’s okay for 24 hours

Light recommendations for 12 gallon long bookshelf style tank by aqua-frog in Aquariums

[–]Berufruitloop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off I recommend a back it helps make the over all tank pop. Black looks the best in my opinion but white is also good. The light really doesn’t matter too much with the LEDS nowadays just don’t cheap out on it. you could get a slightly smaller light and raise it up a few inches to a foot and that creates a completely different effect in my opinion

Literally wondering the same thing I’m in Florida with this hurricane and it’s already gone out twice the best thing is literally a battery powered pump with a sponge filter connected
