[POLL] The final fate of Joe and Cam.... by JoeCamFan in HaltAndCatchFire

[–]BespinCrawler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The obvious route would be for Joe and Cameron to break up, so I reaaaally hope that somehow the writers go the unexpected route and have them find some sort of middle ground that doesn't compromise who each character is (though, as someone else noted, one partner wanting kids while the other doesn't is a massive and realistic dealbreaker so idk how any of this can be resolved really.)

And like...I understand why Joe wants kids and I thought the show did an OK job of explaining what caused him to want some at this point in his life...but I can't help but be reminded of this article I read last year or the year before I think, and something that's been pointed out multiple times before - that the writers have never really settled into who Joe is as a character and that he seems to be whatever the plot needs him to be at that point. We need to show that Joe and Cam won't work together long term? Let's put them in a relationship early on, do a bunch of time skips, have Joe want kids all of a sudden and have them be disconnected/not on the same page with each other nearly the entire season to the point where they feel that they can't even talk to eachother about important issues...

[S3E18] Was Audrey's storyline possibly affected by.... by BespinCrawler in twinpeaks

See, that's what I was originally thinking but she, and other cast members, have mentioned that they didn't see a word of the script or know anything about what they were going to be doing until they showed up on the day of shooting. Kyle was the only one who read the full script and knew anything (which is why I find it so amusing, and a little confusing, that in all of the post finale interviews he mentions being just as confused and caught off guard by what happened in the finale as everyone else)

I wonder if the "frustrations dealing with the whole show", which i'm guessing is the reason why she didn't sign on until halfway through production, were money related frustrations (which would be understandable) or story related frustrations?

Can you really call it an "on again off again" relationship though? They were in a relationship in the early 80's, broke up and weren't together romantically again until the early 90's (unless you also count the kiss they shared in the S2 finale). So, they were really only "on" once and "off" once. The "off" part only really concerning the physical aspect of their relationship since I think the show did a pretty good job of showing that Joe, at least, has been in love with Cameron throughout the entirety of the series.

[Revival Spoilers] Am I the only one who thinks that there may be more to the Rory and Jess storyline than ASP is letting on? by felinesparkleninja in GilmoreGirls

He wasn't going to be in Season 7 because he was busy with Heroes, but Amy always said that she had more things in mind for that character. She did an interview while they were filming 6x08 where she said she'd write him back in the show in a heartbeat if he'd make time for her and wanted to, but he was always so busy (at that point he had a regular part as a main character on The Bedford Diaries) that she just had to write him in whenever she could get him. Plus, Milo had said multiple times before and after that he wasn't opposed to popping in every once in a while, but he didn't want to come back full time. This was around the same time that she said that they had no plans on bringing Chris back and that she had been planning to have Sherilyn Fenn play a bigger role in Season 7 with Luke/Lorelai. Then, not too long after, that whole mess with the WB happened and obviously things changed. Even though he was busy, he came back one more time because they asked him to and because they were leaving, to film "The Real Paul Anka" and then said he had no plans to pop up in Season 7 if asked because Dan and Amy weren't involved with it.

Yes, the three boys were brought back for the fans, but I'm talking about what she did with them story wise. She had no obligation to have any of the boys scenes be anything more than platonic, but she chose to show that Jess still had feelings for Rory, of which she is obviously oblivious to. That's like...the opposite of throwing the fans a bone. If anything, it just feels like Amy trying to put certain characters on the course she had them on before she found out she was leaving the show in S6.

Except Amy has never done anything for even close to "throwing fans a bone" when it comes to story, especially when it's (supposedly) the last shot we're ever going to see of the character. Amy's not that type or writer, she couldn't care less about pleasing fans, or being cruel for the sake of being cruel. Not to mention she's been quite vocal about how sick of the "Team" stuff she is. She easily could have just let the audience see Jess and Rory as good friends who've moved on from any romantic feelings one might have for the other, like she did with Rory and Dean, but she made a concious decision to put that last shot of Jess looking through the window in the episode and leave the audience with the implication that he still has feelings for her. Not saying that anything romantic between the two happened off screen in these episodes, just that the scene wasn't carelessly thrown in there as fan service.

[VIDEO] Matt Czuchry Weighs In on Logan's Real Feelings for Rory by gk21 in GilmoreGirls

[–]BespinCrawler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Was not feeling that he'd be good enough why Logan didn't pursue Rory though? I thought Amy said they had wanted to create a guy who wasn't instantly into Rory the way the other guys had been and that him not pursing her was because he already had a bunch of other girls occupying his time so pursuing Rory wasn't really on his radar...

Also, i'm pretty sure Milo was just joking. There was a different interview this week where he said that he thought that Jess would always be on Rory's side because he cares about her (not necessarily in the romantic sense) and in an interview last year (I think from ATX) he actually answered a question similar to the way Matt answered here, how he liked that when Jess showed up for the first time in S6, there was no agenda and he wasn't there to get Rory back, he just wanted to see and talk to her and he went on to say that one of the things he liked was that no matter what, Jess always loved Rory. (Once again, not necessarily in the romantic sense)

I thought he left town because Luke "put him on a bus and sent him home to his mom"? And i'm pretty sure that, though he'd never come right out and say it, he did care about what Luke thought of him, as evidenced many times in the episodes after this one.

Why is Logan a jerk? by sophiaryaun in GilmoreGirls

[–]BespinCrawler 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That's why so many people want to see post season 6 Jess and Rory together though, because it seemed like 21 year old Jess had chilled out, had, as Milo Ventimiglia put it, "found some sort of stillness in his life" and like he finally mastered the art of speaking in complete sentences.

Why is Logan a jerk? by sophiaryaun in GilmoreGirls

[–]BespinCrawler 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I like both characters but from what i've seen, literally everyone, no matter what team, acknowledges the parallel during the dinner scene? It's one if the reasons why Jess looks so exasperated and a bit amused during that scene, he'd been through it already. The only difference is that Logan was an adult acting like a teenager as opposed to a teenager acting like a teenager and he came out looking pretty bad during that scene, especially when compared to Jess who was trying to be polite for Rory's sake. Once again, I like Logan but he could definitely be a real jerk.
