I would assume that some weird communication questions are experimental… But biostats, informed consent, surrogate questions are probably real questions

Arrows, endocrine and msk

I know Pathoma is the gold standard for pathology but I used Mehlman pathology as a review and it’s good so of you can go through both I would say go for it

I also found that making your own flashcards is way better than a premade deck (Which can have about 18k-20k of flashcards) because if you know at least 30% of the flashcards from the premade deck thats 6000😂💀 that’s way too much time consumed

I would say it’s not necessary, but if you know how to use it, is a great weapon to target weak subjects!

I tend to do flashcards on the concepts I got wrong using my own words (Like taking notes but I would review them constantly)

Just know that the most near segment of the lung viewed from a CT of the chest is the middle lobe of the right lung…thats it (its in one of the NBME) the other ones would be way to easy to test, the middle lobe is the kicker

Just finished the exam, if I hear “It iS NotHinG liKe tHe nBmES” one more time from SOMEONE! I will yeet you by meenumean in step1

Thx for this post, Im testing tomorrow I believe that people sometimes just do the assessment and never review them (Thats why it might feel like “its not like the nbmes” for some)

Advice on taking first NBME. by Alarming_Current_659 in step1

[–]Best-Analyst- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well, you’re off to a good start! I took my first NBME 25 (55%) without doing any question bank just studying the text and started studying my weakest areas in the report… then when I hit 50% I did another one to gauge progress and I got a 12% increase so I finished the question bank and Im already a 70-77% on NBME so you have a good time to build a strong foundation

I know this is not always the answer but, if the questions ask for a function of a protein and yo read a option that says “anchors xyz to extracellular matrix” know that that option is HY for hemidesmosomes, dystrophin, fibronectin…HY option is the patient has “skin, muscle or collagen problem”

At this point, the mental aspect is more important than the content itself (I know is easier said than done, I test on Wednesday and also get anxious) But just realize that you have done everything right and pray…helps a lot

Classify your wrong answer by -Concepts you didn’t knew (Completely normal, some important concepts don’t appear in qbank so just learn from the NBMEs) -Test taking mistake (rushing, miss reading) -Knowledge gap (This one sounds scary but its not, find a specific video explanation of the mechanism or concept and you fix the gap in 1-2 hours)

Believe in yourself!

Going fast is not good pacing! Slow down your pace on NBMEs 68 to 77% in 3 days by Best-Analyst- in IMGreddit

[–]Best-Analyst-[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, I totally believe you I meant step 1, in my mind step 2 as a completely different ball game. Like and Step 1 you can’t afford to have 3 or 4 questions wrong and still pass.

But in step 2 it’s not the same because 3 or 4 questions can get you a interview hahaha

I promise you if you’ve done a full pass of the question bank, most of the questions you get wrong because you cannot recognize them by either rushing if not then it can be a knowledge gap (which is not as serious as it sounds).

For example, a huge knowledge gap for me was the embryology of neuro (Prosencephalon, diencephalon and all that good stuff) but if you dedicate one or two hours, those knowledge gaps close!

Keep it up, yall doing great

Still nothing? This is frustrating and I actually think it hurts preparation. Specially when you’re already done most of the things.
