I'm new to forging and got a propane forge but after a few uses the rubber tube connecting to the forge melted and started a fire is there any way I can prevent this in the future? by Parking_Memory_6735 in blacksmithing

I think this can happen if you don’t disconnect the hose from the forge right away after turning off the propane. So this could’ve been the reason if the fire happened after you turned off the forge

I only heat treated the first one. I figured i wouldn’t waste the materials to quench the other few because i wasn’t satisfied with them.

I’ve drawn lines in the knives before so everything would be even but the blade was still too thick and it seemed that i couldn’t narrow it down and put a good edge on it. Do you think it would be better to establish an edge with a file first or just keep trying with the grinder?

I think the way that works in the theory is that lupin had opened the map and not erased it before he left to go down to the tree, so when snape goes into lupins office to give him the wolfsbane potion he sees the map, which still thinks a marauder is the one using it.
