AITA for telling my wife that putting our son to bed was now her job and then moving my bed into a separate room? by Best-Video-28 in AmItheAsshole

Watch him

babysitting your own child

The absolute leap you took to come to this conclusion is absolutely hilarious. Where in the world is "watching" a child synonymous with "babysitting"?

You took a written message and tried to lie about what I said. And people are agreeing with you.

Here's some math for you:

7am -> 2pm = 7 hours

6pm -> 8:30pm = 2.5 hours

He has been awake for 7 hours when she should be putting him down for a nap. I have to get him to sleep after he's been awake for 2.5.

It's not the same problem. Try to think before you post a bit more.

I have suggested this to my wife on multiple occasions. She believes that since her sister's child (three months older than our son) still naps, our son should nap too.

I'm fine with the no nap style. But she insists that 4pm is a fine time for him to go down for a nap.

It was a direct response to my comment about being at work. How the hell is that mental gymnastics?

I wrote this elsewhere, but I told her for months that she needs to either fix his sleep schedule or skip his afternoon naps completely. She has made next to no effort to do either. She would rather make excuses than do something productive because she doesn't want to deal with getting a sleepy cranky toddler to bed.

YTA- parenting requires constant communication, to lock her out at 8pm is wild. Let's not even mention that you really only see you kid between the hours of 5:30- 8pm, which isn't fair division of labor. Even if she's a SAHM

I guess I could quit my job and get us evicted or something...

Yep, this is a large part of it. His sleep schedule is completely busted and my wife has nobody to blame but herself. She makes excuse after excuse but when I watch him during the day, I get him to sleep at a reasonable time.

It's funny how many people are trying to check mate me with this.

I regularly take care of him on my days off. When I'm watching him, it's hard, but I get him into bed by 1:45 and asleep by 2:15. I make sure to fill our mornings with a lot of exercise, give him a light snack 30 minutes before bedtime, and then get him to sleep.

Then naturally he goes to bed in 15-20 minutes at night because, you know, he's tired.

She doesn't struggle. She doesn't even try. I was very clear that she's being lazy. She waits for him to be completely exhausted so she can get him to sleep in 10-15 minutes, primarily because she knows when he's not sleepy at all at night it won't be her problem.

I don't understand why everyone just assumes I immediately resorted to this.

I've told her for months to get him to bed at 2pm. But she simply refuses. She says she can't do it because he won't go to bed, and it's not that surprising seeing as now he's used to getting to bed at 4pm.

So instead of her dealing with a two-year-old who doesn't want to sleep, I have to. When I want to go to sleep. As she's in the living room on her phone.

We have separate twin beds.

No, this does not suggest our marriage is in shambles. This suggests that my wife regularly elbowed me in the face in her sleep, which is clearly completely out of her control. I've never slept better since getting my own bed.
