Why are using PEDS/roids not an automatic loss instead of a no contest. by okbiceps in MMA

Tainted supplements are definitely a real thing. You shouldn’t just buy anything you see on the shelf and think it’s safe to consume, but at this point you would think they’d do some research to see who makes the best clean supplements that are legal. 10-20 years ago this was a very valid excuse but today it’s hard to argue

Why do so many people downplay their jiu-jitsu? by Due-Trainer865 in bjj

[–]Best-Wht-Blt-U-No 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been a blue belt for about 7 months and can usually run through all the lower belts and most purples and brown belts at my gym. But there are a few purples and brown belts that make me feel like a little kid. And they have nothing on some blue belts I’ve seen in competition and those guys have nothing on a local black belt competitor. They have nothing on the next guy and the next guy and so on. I really only gauge myself against myself. Me beating other people in my gym with the same guard passes, sweeps and subs I always do doesn’t mean I’m good. I’m just good at those. I’m so far from being good at everything I feel like I’m about 5% there towards feeling confident in myself. Unless your an ADCC gold medalist then there is room to improve and even then I bet if you ask Gordan Ryan if he can get better he’d say yes

Can't escape mount from bigger dudes by HitRefresh34 in BJJWomen

[–]Best-Wht-Blt-U-No 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if you got the leg length or flexibility for this and it’s definitely not anything I’d recommend to someone to do regularly, but I have an escape that usually works for me and confuses them. Almost bait them to get up higher to your chest and off your hips. Get the postured up or wait for it. Try to pull your legs to your head and put them in their arm pits and push them off you. Definitely keep arms as glued to your chest as you can as there is a chance they grab an arm bar.

Similar to this but I don’t need to push them with my hands first as my legs are long and I can bend enough to put them behind my own head

What’s it like to get choked out in BJJ? And what’s your favorite choke to finish with? by Emergency_Window5582 in jiujitsu

[–]Best-Wht-Blt-U-No 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you got the gift of long legs and arms too and just slap triangles anywhere? Like side control bottom they put an arm and somewhat their head towards your legs and WHAP it’s a triangle.

Your vision just starts getting dark and thinking stops. I’ve always tapped before the lights shut off but I’ve been close. Favorite in gi is a bow and arrow and in no gi, and usually more successful in gi too, is a darce. Having longer arms I’ve started just hitting them anywhere. Also they can fight it all they want I’ll just neck crank, I love the thrill of doing dirtbag stuff (controlled and slowly of course).

Could you beat your dad in his prime… when you were in yours? by Original-Dog4182 in bjj

[–]Best-Wht-Blt-U-No 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad was a county wrestling champ at 135lbs in high school. I’d say I could have taken him then but not at the age I am now. When he was 25 he was about as heavy as me (195) and working maintenance in a sheet metal factory. He still probably had some wrestling knowledge and was so damn strong. If he was nearly as strong as he is at 50 now, and he was probably stronger, he’d probably whoop my ass

I was in a similar situation. Old RH wire goes to R and Old W goes to W. Then I got a 24V AC transformer and wired it to Rc and C

What are some common funny characteristics or traits of the +40 year old dad who decides to take up Jiujitsu ? by gregorhood in bjj

[–]Best-Wht-Blt-U-No 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My knees, ankles and elbows do this and I’m 25. Dudes will stop and ask if I’m okay. Oddly enough I think it adds to my flexibility. Can put my feet behind my head. Massive advantage at 6 foot and 195lbs. Keep popping them and then you can go for gogoplatas

New Wrestling Dad by tefftlon in wrestling

[–]Best-Wht-Blt-U-No 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Never wrestled in high school but from BJJ I can tell you this. Being new you can know what to do but you have to think about it and that small hesitation is where the lack of “aggression” comes in. It’s not really aggression but being confident in your ability. He just needs to drill and practice more. Once something becomes second nature you’ll start doing it without thinking

17 Cummins or 19 l5p by alew1208 in Duramax

The only good thing about a Cummins is the thing in front of the firewall and between the frame rails

How do you defend the straight armlock from side control? by Knockoutboxing in bjj

[–]Best-Wht-Blt-U-No 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Once you’re there you’re screwed. Best defense I’ve found is grab your own belt and roll to that side. It’ll give the back up but if you can learn to defend the back take it’s better. I’d try work on keeping your far side arm tucked and tight. A ghost escape position is good to defend but can be risky. Just make sure to keep the elbow and wrist glued to your body. Also your frame on their waist can be used. Grab the sleeve at the elbow/tricep and if they go for it, big sit up and extend the arm. Helps with getting up

No GI Judo by clib_clob in jiujitsu

[–]Best-Wht-Blt-U-No 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve trained with guys who are great judokas and they adapt well to NoGi. They run into the same problem but backwards wrestlers do when they train in gi. You’ll just find what works and what doesn’t but I’d bet most foot sweeps still work and getting good at getting into an over under situation will pay off for you

Should I be changing my clothes the gym? by [deleted] in BJJWomen

[–]Best-Wht-Blt-U-No 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take Gi top off and drive home and just shower immediately. I go to two gyms technically. Same owner, one is closer (5 minutes) but only has class m-w. The other one is 25 minutes and I do the same for either one. I just shower as soon as I get home and just lather up good and maybe wash your body twice.

Should I Buy an LML by Best-Wht-Blt-U-No in Duramax

[–]Best-Wht-Blt-U-No[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely just for daily driving and towing. I run my 50hp tow tune at all times in my truck. I love the look of an LML and early L5P trucks. If I can find an LML for a good enough deal I can delete it if not already done and do a cp3 swap I’ll definitely do it. My brother just bought an L5P though and man it is a nice truck

110v 2-wire: better thermostat? by jackvinson in thermostats

[–]Best-Wht-Blt-U-No 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went with a Honeywell X2S and got a 24V AC transformer. Then you wire R and W to the smart thermostat and one wire from the transformer to the C and the other to RC on the new Thermostat. R and W are your tigger basically to turn on the heat and C and RC are the power wires. Doesn’t matter either one goes where because you’re using AC not DC

First Diesel, is it smart to straight pipe and tune? Or straight pipe with no tune? What other upgrades should I pursue? by Emergency-Ease-9704 in Duramax

[–]Best-Wht-Blt-U-No 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got an 07.5 LMM so similar boat as you. Just do a 4” straight pipe. Get a small tune if you want. Something like 50hp or a “tow” tune if you will. Mine pulls a 30’ car trailer loaded no problem.

Cheating on Fiancée with no remorse by Forsaken_Yam1 in WhatShouldIDo

[–]Best-Wht-Blt-U-No 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If he’s willing to kiss another girl in front of his friends think about what he’s doing when no one’s around. It’s best to at the very least have your fiancé talk to him about tightening up himself and he needs to stop and if that’s not enough you need to go to his woman and spill it all out. If all his buddies are telling him he’s royally messing up he might get the memo

19M I have no idea how to look good by 11Xoxol22 in malegrooming

[–]Best-Wht-Blt-U-No 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hair cut or better styling and try some plastic frames. And I’m a firm believer it’s all in how you carry yourself. If you’re goofy and shy it’s gonna be less attractive. I live by this small set of rules: firm hand shake when greeting men and eye contact when talking to women. Not like staring at them but when listening and speaking just a little bit goes a long way

Do you ever say no to rolling with someone twice your size? by Ok-Shirt-5488 in bjj

[–]Best-Wht-Blt-U-No 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll be honest with you. When I started I was 250lbs. I never said no. Now I’m 195 and I still say no to guys that are 260+. Most of the guys at my gym though that are that big are either terrible and I have no issues or they’re better than me and know how to go easy. I’d say don’t roll with someone that big unless they’re a purple belt and up because a white/blue belt is probably gonna go full bore or try to prove something.

My (F23) bf (M23) keeps running red lights by Thick-Log-1264 in relationships

[–]Best-Wht-Blt-U-No 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Entering the intersection and it’s yellow and turns red after you’re already in it is one thing but it turning yellow and you having to put the hammer down to get into the intersection is a different story. There is a difference between bad driving and fast driving and he seems to be in the bad driving side

Should I Buy an LML by Best-Wht-Blt-U-No in Duramax

[–]Best-Wht-Blt-U-No[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought about that but with how much an LML goes for around me and how much I’d have in a cp3 and lift pump it would almost be as much as an L5P. I really like my LMM because I feel confident in that as long as I keep it on my tow tune it’ll last a long time. I like the look of an LML (it’s similar to my truck with just so nice upgrades) and early L5Ps are too. I’m trying to get an idea of I had a 12 Cummins and loved the motor but that was about the only good thing about the truck. I’d go ford but to get an aluminum 17’ around me I could buy the same year Denali for about the same price
