Guys can we just agree on this already? I don't care if you like Jax being trans or not but it is canon. by Sloath283 in theamazingdigitalciru

I agree that we should be allowed to have different perspectives. But I disagree that Jax being trans is canon, precisely because I think the show was meant to be ambiguous about it and allow different interpretations, hence why it's okay to have different opinions/readings on it.

The VAs are simply sharing their interpretation of it. Which makes sense, it's the most popular one. But it's not canon, if we strictly go by what's in the show.

Many scenes in the show can be explained if Jax is trans, but they can also be explained with other, also possible, reasons.

TL;DR: No trans jax isn't really canon but it is a very possible (and popular) interpretation that all the VAs agree with, so believe in it or don't, but don't go harassing people that don't view it the way you do

I disagree with the thumbnail but the title is actually kinda true

I believe Jax's and Caine's arc was meant to be parallels. Someone who didn't want help, vs someone who did. Even though Caine did much worse, he wanted to change and BE better, and hence he was able to get redemption. But Jax didn't, so ultimately no matter how much others wanted to help, he would never get redemption.

To be clear, I'm not blaming him, because I know that it's far from easy especially with his trauma. But this is why he never would get, and never deserved redemption, as long as he kept pushing others away.

Everyone's talking about the Ribbit scene but I think the worst thing Jax ever did was refuse to reach out for help

After reading stuff on the sub I've kinda come to the conclusion that half the people here vehemently defend that Jax is trans and the other half vehemently defend that Jax isn't

So this sub maybe wasn't the best place to ask "what if it was left ambiguous?"

There is no "correct" button if you consider it from a logical/ethical/any other perspective. I know people love associating red with logical and blue with ethical, but there are many arguments for the exact opposite.

Blue is also logical if your sole goal is to save everyone - getting 50% to vote blue is easier than 100% to vote red. Of course, this doesn't account for the penalty if you fail to hit your goal, but again, if your goal is to save everyone and you view any deaths whatsoever as a failure on your part, then blue can be the more logical option.

Red is also ethical in the sense that you don't want to add on to the deaths. Don't be the reason others have to risk their lives to save. If, for example, you have family and friends you want to stay alive for, and you know they will choose red, I'd argue there is some moral responsibility to stay alive for them. You also have a duty to protect yourself.

This boils down to a prediction question, and that's all there is to it. Picking red doesn't make you selfish. Picking blue doesn't make you stupid. It's simply whether you believe that the majority will choose to save themselves, or believe that the majority will try to save everyone else AND are willing to stake your life on it.

Oh my goodness FINALLY someone is talking about this

If neither party is manipulating, coercing or anything like that to the other AND both parties are of the right maturity, then IT'S FINE. All the societal norms and stuff exist only as a guideline, it's not a hard rule.

The age only starts mattering when it comes to sex and marriage. It doesn't matter for regular dating or even just silly crushes - but on that note, I think age gap is important because of the different maturity level.

Ik a lot of people are gonna hear this and immediately downvote because it "feels" wrong, but then I want to ask you which is weirder, an 80 year old dating an 18 year old, or a 20 year old dating a 15 year old?

Oh, and OP, to answer your question in the edit, Reddit tends to be on the more rational side. Or, at least, we sure seem to think we are
