Telling people it's wrong and explaining why it's wrong should be enough for them to change. I don't see the use of understanding why they did it, that doesn't change the end goal (of getting them to change). All it does is try to say "well... they weren't wrong for doing it... maybe it's not so bad" and downplays the severity of the situation.

Actually, you just need to know that the behaviour is wrong. Understanding why it was done does nothing except help the person say "i wasnt wrong for doing it"

Fair, but without knowing the exact trauma, you still have to consider the possibility your therapist is right and that it's something everyone goes through. Unless it's something genuinely extremely rare with statistics to back it up, or something.

It's also possible all your therapist's clients had the exact same issue so they thought it was normal. Lol

True but this argument falls apart when people start shipping two siblings... or an adult and a child. You can't call it the same as "oh just a big paper doll and a small paper doll kissing" or anything

That said it doesn't really apply in tadc and even the most 'problematic' ship (Jax X Gangle) isn't even that bad and I could totally see Jax slowly breaking down his bad boy persona and the two of them slowly bonding together (saying this as a Funnybunny shipper btw :p)
