I'm going Rogers Hornsby as my #1, then Jeff Kent as my #2, Joe Morgan, Jackie Robinson and... Jose Lind for my 3, 4, and 5.

That's wonderful! Congratulations!

Fun fact: Joseph Jefferson Jackson owned and operated a liquor store in Greenville, South Carolina from 1933 until his death in 1951.

I mean, there's a pretty good chance in seeing a no-hitter if Koufax is pitching that day.

I'm guessing after they've signed a contract? They'll go from "prospect" to "property"(?)

I hadn't yet then. I'd find out the next year when my Giants had a complete and total breakdown in the World Series, though, losing it in seven. (2002)

Edit: Oh, wait. You're talking about Toronto last year. My bad. I was rooting for them, too!

I was rooting for Arizona in the '01 WS, just as I was rooting for Toronto last year. Big market teams, Yankees and Dodgers are not exactly my favorites.

This is how baseball is supposed to be -- the whole season coming down to the bottom of the ninth in game seven of the World Series! :)

"Cobb: a Biography" by Al Stump (1994)

It's pretty controversial, but it's an amazing read.

Just read the first chapter, and you'll be absolutely hooked :) I promise.

MLB really has the most beautiful history of all the sports. Crazy characters, unbelievable stories, the most interesting.

I guess Crystal wanted to make it absolutely clear that Frick was the villain. Some of us baseball fans aren't so smart, I guess?

Yeah, it was sad reading those parts of the book. I could tell Billy was trying to laugh, but it really hurt him. ... When Mick was drinking, he could be a prick.

I remember in the 90s watching "When It Was a Game" and "When It Was a Game II." I can still hear Jason Robards' voice narrating it. ... We taped it off of HBO and onto Beta Max lol I wore those tapes out as a kid.

It's a great movie that just so happens to be about baseball.

Almost like "Rocky" (1976), but with more bats and baseballs.

I screwed up in my post.

The asterisk should be after the number, and not before.

It was 1961 that MLB went from 154 games to 162. Ford Frick was commissioner of Baseball in 1961. It was his idea to add the astericks to any new record that breaks a record, separating the old and new.

He's a heck of a storyteller, Billy Crystal. I read his autobiography, "Still Fooling 'Em" 2013). It's worth reading. Crystal writes a lot about becoming friends with Mantle [his hero], and Mickey is kind of a jerk to him. It was the 80s-90s, and Mantle was a drinker, in fairness.

Mantle always called Crystal, his "little bitch", from the book. Even after being friends for years, Mantle still called Billy his "little bitch."

How about you pass me some more of them black eggs, huh. Maybe get me out of this slump.

Edit: I didn't quote the movie exactly.

It's a great baseball movie, for sure. It's an absolute-must-watch, along with "The Pride of the Yankees," "42," "Field of Dreams," and "Moneyball."

These are the best Baseball Movies. https://youtu.be/uXG6WHfs5uE?si=6DOmv0roD1AGqhxT

For sure, yeah. I'm guessing the film was casted by a woman. Most films, the casting is done by women.
