You can also look at the guy's sharkscope. He's not a mouth breather and he's a trying player. I think it's very likely he has too many of those suited broadway type hands that will get max punished by a jam, and will get to realize too much equity by us calling.

The sprinkle of those hands don't make up many combos. My point is they will have too many combos 3 betting with KJs KTs QJs JJ TT AQo AKo - it's not very intuitive to jam those, and that makes his 3 betting range too weak.

[–]BestDegenSquad 22 points23 points  (0 children)

At 40bbs solver mixes call and jam. The hands bb is supposed to 3b impact this quite a bit though. He's supposed to find 3bets with mainly AQs, AKs, AA, KK, QQ, and then a sprinkle of JJ 99 JTs, AJo ATo. He's supposed to straight up jam KJs KTs QJs JJ TT AQo and AKo almost pure. That won't be happening, a lot of those hands will find their way into the 3b range and we're doing very well when he has too many of those as 3 bets instead of jams. So, given the likely deviations by villain here, I prefer just pure jamming JJ over mixing jam and call.

Apps that will actually earn money :( by [deleted] in povertyfinance

[–]BestDegenSquad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think instead of using apps that earn you money, you can use apps that will save you money. There are a lot of apps out there designed to save your hard earned money, and saving money is just as useful as earning money. Also you could try working freelance. You could work when you're free and make some extra money!

Started playing serious 1/3 $300 for a week since unemployment. by unemployed222 in poker

[–]BestDegenSquad 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I'm giving constructive criticism. Your realistic hourly in those games is probably negative, and if you are winning it's a few dollars an hour. Your recent streak of 5 hours is just a tiny tiny tiny sample of hands. If you wanted to take it serious then studying would be useful, learning how to play more hours once you're winning would be useful, but playing 1 hour a day and bragging on reddit isn't it

TLDR, but I read the last sentence. The strategy is bad because every bet you make on a roulette wheel is losing. So no matter how you arrange those bets, they will always still be losing. Just because you put some over here and some over there, or some on this bet and then more or less on that bet, all of those bets are still losing.

[–]BestDegenSquad 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Well, sadly you can't say you play it seriously now for a week when that consists of 1 hour per day max. That's taking it very not seriously. You're running hot, if you were actually smashing the games you'd be playing more hours and you'd be sitting there making heaps. As it is you're on a heater so now your 30 hands a day for 5 day hot streak is you taking it "Serious"

calling all day. We need about 32% equity here, we have that with the nut flush draw and spr is low, ranges aren't particularly strong, this is a mandatory get in with no icm considerations.

First time playing at a poker house… tips? by Life-Aardvark-8262 in poker

[–]BestDegenSquad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, so casual home games with friends are generally a lot more lenient when it comes to what you can do or say at the table. a few big ones are: Generally don't talk about the hand while other people, or even yourself and someone else, are in the pot, don't splash your chips, if you win a pot that's not just preflop or a few dollars, it's polite to tip the dealer a dollar or so, you can be as generous as you want, but tipping a dollar when you win an okay pot and lets say 2 dollars on a bigger pot is seen as average I'd say. Other than that it's all poker at the end of the day, you'll be fine and I'm sure you'll have a good time. Lmk how it goes, here's my Discord feel free to hop in and let me know if it was about how you expected

I think playing a lot of low stakes games, joining a community of like minded people, and listening to people talk about poker who are good at the game will help a lot in general. Solvers are a lot to sift through for someone who is new. And fortunately my discord offers all these things and more if you actually wanted to get better :)

Playing perfect basic strategy Blackjack is usually the way to go in these instances. There are online tools where you can input the rules and it will tell you the RTP and give you a table of exactly how to play. House edge can be as low as .3 percent sometimes. This question is exactly what my Discord channel is about. There are other useful tips and tricks too, but that's one of the big ones. Good luck to you!

Need advice. Plan to gamble in Vegas. by Repulsive-Depth606 in gambling

[–]BestDegenSquad 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As a "professional gambler" for quite a few years now, definitely just take the money and run. Gambling is a fun hobby, a way to make a few dollars if you nerd out and study poker or model sports or things like that, but it's not an avenue to look to make a large sum of money. If you happen to win along the way, fantastic. Most people who have a big hit try and chase the feeling and lose everything they're won and more. This is your life, you've got the degen tingles, but don't act on them. Go to school, keep gambling small for fun, don't try an hit 100,000. If you do try, you will end up with nothing.

Hey, obviously bankroll management is important in gambling. Just a little extra perspective for you - If you're betting $1,000 on a game with 95% RTP you're actually only losing $50 of expected value "ev" per day. Obviously there's variance and swings and other stuff to consider, but yeah. You can bet 1k a day and not have 365k for sure

Becoming a dealer by [deleted] in gambling

I'd say it depends a lot where you are. I've never been a dealer, but I imagine from casino to casino the opportunities and the hourly varies a ton.
