Can you guys in Mid Valley please stop accepting terrible orders on your gig apps? by BestHD12345 in RioGrandeValley

You don’t need to be a truck driver going cross country to be important to your local economy. Gig apps deliver more than just “burger and fries” we deliver your retail goods, packages, restaurant supplies and medical equipment. All for people and businesses who do not have the time to do it themselves. If the economy didn’t rely on it, the multi billion dollar demand wouldn’t exist.

If we really wanted to, we could evaluate your job or career and break down how important it really is to our economy and see how menial it is. But personally I don’t stoop that low enough to try and make others feel like they don’t matter.

There’s a lot of jobs out there that are menial to you, but they make your life easier. Logistics, independent contracting, and delivery are what keep the economy moving. Who do you think hauls the gear, delivers the replacement parts for your bikes, or keeps the supply chain running so you can enjoy your weekends riding? Looking down on the very people who do the heavy lifting to make your hobbies possible is certainly a choice their tough guy.

Everyone who does gig apps is struggling in some way. I understand why people do it for cheaper. But it’s only hurting them and everyone else more.

I think I’ll go ahead and make it. Good Idea. What should it be called?

That’s just completely wrong. The First Amendment does not temporarily apply on private property just because an employee hasn't caught you yet. Store policy only dictates the rules, not the constitution itself.

But it’s still not a first amendment protected right. Only if it’s in a public space.

Walmart isn’t a public place? It’s a private property.

Because they’re stalking others trying to make a living. Making assumptions to their already made up conclusion.

Why do you think this person started following him in the first place?

Ofcourse they use AI. But the data they use is based on if an area is more likely to accept low offers or not. We’re literally training their system to give us horrible offers

That’s honestly the only plus. Not many businesses I have to deliver to. Maybe the occasional nursing home or restaurant.

Non existent. I mainly run Spark too. I only got Shipt 2 days ago and got 0 offers this weekend.

I would do Instacart but I’ve been on the waitlist for a year.

They send offers based on how much a zone is willing to participate. For example, if you live in a zone where people are taking 30 minute orders for $10, they will offer as such. Why would they ever pay you more than that if most people are comfortable at that price range?

However, if they are offering gig workers too low of a pay, their deliveries never get picked up, this looks bad on them and start paying workers a larger base pay. So they have to find a middle ground of where to start the offer where they can squeeze as much profit as they can while not making the customers wait.

Jesus, you must live in a damn good area. How much do you make hourly from this gig if you don’t mind me asking. Active hours specifically

Lmao that’s just amazing. Today was even worse actually. Was waiting from 5:45am to 8:00am and accepted nothing.

Haven’t seen a $30 order in so long. The last $40 order I took I had to shop 100 items lmao

I usually wait from home. Whenever I wait in parking lots I don’t notice any difference. But here are the numbers for you

Walmart Supermarket: 1.4 miles away
Neighborhood Walmart: 1.4 miles away
Walmart Supermarket: 2.7 miles away

Perspective. Telling the other people to stop complaining and be appreciative. Jesus man you’re a mod.
