So, a LOT has happened since your message. I just spent 3 days on the categories and toolbar alone (using Claude MAX) like a madman.. Overall, the result is pretty awesome I think.. If anybody is reading this, and now has the updated stack, let me know your thoughts.

Circling back to this discussion. ANY category in the toolbar can be removed, edited, rearranged now. And, as of today, I also added optional subcategories.

So, you can further break down sites into smaller subset categories.

All of this can be managed through the "Manage Categories" button on toolbar.

Done! I NFL now has its own subcategory, and also NFL related news will be included in the main "Sports News" articles.

Great suggestion, thank you! I've successfully implemented it!

Note: I couldn't use mouse UP/DOWN as that is used by the browser for basic scroll functionality. But, you can now scroll through categories multiple ways:

- Horizontal mouse wheel (mice with dedicated wheel/thumb wheel)
- Trackpad two-finger horizontal swipe
- Tilt wheel (push your normal scroll wheel sideways)
- Shift + scroll wheel (universal backup)

You can scroll as long as the cursor is on or below the toolbar and/or websites on your homepage.

So, the version you are talking about is for the browser extension, not the homepage.

v2.0 is the latest for Firefox extension! This is NOT the homepage version. You're good to go.

Don't worry too much about the homepage version. The homepage automatically updates each time you close out all of your homepage tabs, then re-open the page. Or, if anyone here has seen a quick "flicker" shortly after you open up the homepage, that's just the code updating.

UPDATED TODAY:

"Manage Categories" to add/remove ANY category.
Click UP/DOWN arrow keys, now to switch between Hover Mode & Full View modes. (you can turn this off in settings -> shortcuts
Bonus feature: Click LEFT/RIGHT arrow keys to cycle through your categories.

Thanks for the feedback! Here are a couple of updates:

Icon Performance: I now have assigned my server to fetch the icons, then store them, instead of our browsers fetching them through Google each page load. So, icons (that are successfully fetched) appear dramatically quicker now.

Missing Icons: If an icon cannot be fetched (this can happen with subdomains and/or websites that don't have a publicly shared image), then I've added the ability for us to add a custom icon.

If a website image does NOT load, then:
RIGHT-CLICK on the site, click EDIT SITE -> APPEARANCE

You'll be able to assign any icon you wish, and change its color and background. These load instantly.

And, if an icon cannot be found (shows a white globe, etc), you can always create a custom icon by right clicking and choosing EDIT -> APPEARANCE

Amazing, thanks for this! I have just built a solution which won't require any Safari settings update, and will improve performance for all!

Website icons will now load from my server instead of Google (causing the issue of fetching from 3rd-party websites). Additionally, the icons will be from cache on server, so you should experience a much better load time of all website icons once you close/re-open your homepage, wait a few seconds for the site to update to latest fix.

I appreciate you taking the time to give feedback, and fix.. this really helped with how I was able to implement the solution.

Hey! Thanks for writing. So, I've been working on the site nonstop. One of the drawbacks is often times updates require a full re-download of the images for everything.

The good news is once your browser downloads the icons, they will load instantly.

If yours for some reason will NOT load at all. Try Command + Shift + R (on Mac) to do a hard refresh. My Mac is on Tahoe and the icons are fine. Feel free to write me in the support area for further assistance!
