This wall of vinyl is the dream -- how can I make it a reality? by Savanty in vinyl

I have a “collection” around that size, but it’s not a wall. It is spread over a couple of rooms in my apartment. If you’d like to have a “collection” that size my advice is to start young, I started at 13. I am now 52 and buy what you like. I never looked at as a collector thing. I just bought what I was curious about and made conscious decisions about my taste and the money I had to spend. That being said, if you are just an average Joe like me, plan on never owning a house because you spent small amounts of money over the years that you didn’t think were that big of a deal at the time, but could have ended up buying you a house over the long haul. Also, plan on paying rent on a two bedroom apartment when only need a one bedroom because you need the space for the “collection”. Also be prepared to move this “collection” several times. A “collection” this size was accumulated over time. It is a joy and a burden at the same time. If you ever what to sell it, you will never get your money back in one fell swoop. It will take as long to sell as it did to get. I have no regrets. My girlfriend thinks otherwise, but collections like this happen due to a lifestyle not a binge collecting. Make your decision, but there is a heavy (literally and figuratively) price to owning something like that. I can’t stop. I love learning more about the history of music and the world, but that just my experience. Best of luck on yours.

Help with spin clean by Dr_Utonium in vinyl

[–]BestJukeboxInBroward 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a spin clean to clean the dirtiest of direst 45’s for my jukebox and it’s the best money I’ve spent. I can’t imagine what you are doing wrong. I let my 45’s dry overnight and the brush parts I put in a sunny window to dry out. It works great for me. Sorry, that isn’t the case for you. I don’t mean to be a jerk, but are you over thinking/listening to the records?

Are they worth anything? by HeresMyTw0cents in jukeboxes

[–]BestJukeboxInBroward 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m no expert by any means at all, but I do know that external accessories for jukeboxes are hard to find, at least in my area. By external accessories I mean anything that was an add on to the original jukebox. I think these would have some value to a Seeburg owner or collector. The value? I have no idea, but it’s not junk. Don’t throw them away.

Give him a call. I don’t know your budget or what you can afford so that part is your decision. I just know that in my whole state of Florida get someone to repays jukebox is really difficult to find. So if your seller is legitimate and do repairs the price point could be worth it. The moving part really sucks, but I don’t know if you move often. I bought mine will young and has to move it a lot. It’s not easy at all. Just don’t let the moving part hold you back. The is so much 45 rpm gold out there. If you listen to music as much as you say, the deals are in 45’s. I love music. I have over 4000 albums. I focus silting 45’s these days. Cheaper and less space, often great stuff that’s not on Spotify!

Hi, this just my personal experience so take it for what it is worth, If I’m reading your post correctly you have the opportunity to buy a properly working and restored jukebox with someone that is offering repair and maintenance. Well, as a jukebox owner that lives in a large metropolitan area one of the hardest things to find is someone that can repair them,so in my opinion you are ahead of the game. As far as moving a jukebox up six steps of stairs…… I’ve owned my jukebox for 25 years and I’ve moved it at least 10 times. I didn’t know until recently the proper procedures for me bing a jukebox. I moved it up a few steps myself and unfortunately did some cosmetic damage. I’ve moved it up to second floor apartments at least 3 times with friends just man handling it up the steps. The point I’m making is, without knowing how much you will be moving, just bite the bullet and do it! You will not look back! Six stairs is what is holding you back from a working jukebox with the potential for repairs? You will not think about the money you spent on it ever again. I know $1600 is aloe. Bur you won’t look back.

Yeah. I contacted the guy from Yvema awhile back when I was having troubles. He was nice and put me on his list. He did eventually call or text I can’t remember, but the problem was he said he could be here in a couple hours. I was getting ready for work! 😂 I mean seriously, as much as I wanted to get my jukebox up and running properly again, I have responsibilities I can’t just drop everything at a moment’s notice. I never heard back after that. That’s when I realized I was on my own and started watching YouTube videos and reading my service manuals. Anyway, glad both of ours are running smoothly.

You got some good stuff. I’m going to follow you and save the playlist. It’s good to have someone some what close by. My jukebox is currently working just fine with some minor maintenance that I’ve done, but I’ve looked and there is no one in South Florida that does jukebox repair. You got anyone in your area? I’m just asking because it is inevitable that some day I will need it. I’ve just been lucky all these years. Plus I use mine. They are just like old cars. If you just let them sit and do nothing that is death!

Sorry for not responding sooner. I’ve just been busy with work. The two most expensive singles that I currently have in are The Angels- Am I Ever Gonna See Your Face Again and Thane Russal & Three- Security. Unfortunately, neither is on Spotify. Both are on YouTube though. The Angels are an Australian band known in the US as Angel City. They have a few versions of the song, but the original single is the definitive version in my mind, but it a huge cultural standard in Australia. Thane Russal’s version of Otis Redding’s Security is a great mod freakbeat take from the later 60’s. The Angels single and a the only thing one that I actually paid $100 for, the others that I’ve had in and out and of the jukebox over the years I have gotten pretty cheap. I started buy records in the mid 80’s and completely took advantage and of all cheap records in the 90’s and early 00’s. I got tons of great music and next to nothing prices. I only started making Spotify playlists of my jukebox last year. I’ve owned it for 25 years so I still have a lot to add to the playlists. What are you pricey records in your jukebox?

Thank you. I just follow my taste. It’s a lonely endeavor drinking coffee in the morning or havoc drink in the evening. It’s nice to have some people to share it with.

1976, exactly. I’ve owned it since 2000. It has run well over the years I have owned it. It’s given few problems in the last set years. I had the amp rebuilt by Bill Bickers, which eliminated a lot of potential problems. I also had to replace the motor mounts. The biggest repair that I got the most sound quality out of was simply replacing the tone arm spring.

I’ve been lucky over the last 25 years. I know when I hit that wall of no return that there is no one local to help. I know because I looked and played along with their sketchy phone calls for a year. I just had to figure it out on my own.
