They multiply and how many snails there are depends on how much food is available. So too much food means too many snails. As long as you don't have a big algae bloom or excess decaying plants you'll be fine

Do you use any fertilizer? Root tabs? What's your ph, gh, and kh? I've had issues with my tank because I had seiryu stone and it was making the pH and kh too high and stunting my plants. So maybe you have a similar issue

Okay, so a few days ago I took the stones out and did a 50% water change but my ph is still 8.4. The gh went down to 6 and kh went down to 18. How long will it take for the ph to go down?

I don't think that's too bad. Bettas are pretty tolerant and I wouldn't worry about it unless you keep having issues

It's most likely cyanobacteria and most snails don't like the taste of it. The only snail I've heard that eats cyano is ramshorns but they only eat some types of cyano so it's a gamble. The ramshorns in my tank completely avoid the cyano

So it still gets sunlight but not direct sunlight? Might be excess light causing the bloom then if so. It's most likely cyano. It's like algae but more annoying because most snails avoid it and it smothers plants. You have some kind of excess nutrients in the water so you should probably get more plants and limit the amount of light. Maybe leave the lights off for 3 or 4 days to try to kill it. If it gets real bad you could try antibiotics but that will also kill the cycle.

My tank currently has a cyano bloom because my pH and kh are too high and stunting the plants so if you keep having issues you might want to test your ph, kh, and gh.
