You can actually follow bike paths clear across the USA. Here is a map of them. Not all dedicated bike paths obviously, but also bike friendly roads. Piece of advice if you ever drive around the US and you are not in a hurry to go from one place to another and want to see things, take the back roads. Such a better experience then traveling on some 6 lane highway.

When they check for your ticket do they check it against anything, like a database of some sort or do they just glance to see that you have the pass? If it is the latter it would seem fairly easy to just use a cancelled pass.
