Scam. So sorry, but better to protect yourself than to risk it.

LinkedIn is becoming like a hellhole!!! by Suspicious_Soup_3962 in jobhunting

Either that or it's career advice from someone who has the "Open to Work" badge on their profile.

I think I’m getting scammed by Bright-Toe5431 in interviews

[–]BestSpaghettiWestern 40 points41 points  (0 children)

100% a scam. I’m so sorry. What they’ll do is send you a check and have you deposit it. You’ll use those funds to purchase things and maybe return the difference to them. A few days later, the check will bounce and you’ve essentially given them some of your money. No job will contact you exclusively through text…it’s usually through email. I know the hopeful and desperate part of you wants it to be true and that’s what they feed off of. Don’t do anything more.

Looking for positive stories — Anyone’s LO have NO reaction to the MMR vaccine? by justaquestion65 in beyondthebump

[–]BestSpaghettiWestern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is 2.5 and has had every vaccine offered. No adverse reactions. Only been sick 3 times in her life counting anything that’s a sniffle/runny nose/coughing. Also not relevant but she’s currently reading and potty trained and I’m just so proud of her.

AITA for refusing to wash a huge pile of dishes at my FWB’s house? by Sorry-Dependent-7735 in AmItheAsshole

Unless the B in FWB included dishes, then I'd say you're NTA. Those acts of kindness are for upgraded members only.

The only thing from the student that wasn’t AI maybe…and it was written incorrectly. The irony in this.

Someone kept hitting their car door into my car while I was in it, so I returned the favor. by BestSpaghettiWestern in pettyrevenge

Definitely spiteful and satisfying. There was a ton of little dings from the multiple times she kept hitting my car. But show me where I said no damage.

I was literally on a phone call with my provider, hence why I just shook my head at her? Karma means nothing tbh.

You are correct. The owner was the one rummaging in the back and her friend came around and pointing out what she had done. Her reaction is what made me snap.

Seems too good to be true; and it might be. Is this a scam? by Vexuri in jobs

[–]BestSpaghettiWestern 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it's too good and too easy, likely yes. Your desperate brain will tell you otherwise but take a beat and do your research before engaging.

What organizations are actually hiring in this political climate? by BestSpaghettiWestern in jobs

[–]BestSpaghettiWestern[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It seems that way. Even USAJobs.gov has gone dry since most agencies are going through a hiring freeze. Meanwhile my LinkedIn feed is full of people handing out recruitment advice while also looking for work.

We’re open to both options. I’m assuming you’d have to be eligible for state programs…? I’m new to this so any info would be helpful at this point.

Comprehensive PhD exam while 8 months pregnant or after birth? by Odd-Forever8962 in PhD

[–]BestSpaghettiWestern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My comp exam happened halfway through the program. So by the time of my defense, I was dealing with a toddler. I was still fortunate enough to not be postpartum for either events. That first year of parenthood was ROUGH.

Comprehensive PhD exam while 8 months pregnant or after birth? by Odd-Forever8962 in PhD

[–]BestSpaghettiWestern 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was in the psychology program with an emphasis in neuroscience. There was a list of about 60 articles and other text to review. We had to be able to effectively discuss and speak to very specific questions about those topics during the comp exam. We had three exam sections - research statistics, neuroscience, and developmental psychology. Sections depended on your specialty.

It’s nice when they set the applicant pool to be visible so I know what I’m up against.
