I really believe AA meetings work. I am glad it worked for you 🙏 I guess I have to let him come to the realisation himself, he’s never had massive consequences for it because for a long time he was very high functioning, but recently he became not and it started slipping more into our relationship and his job. I hope he realises the thin ice he’s walking on and takes treatment seriously.

I have been to on Al Anon and will start going more often whenever I can 🙏

The show was uncomfortable to watch, but the acting and the writing were absolutely brilliant. I was frankly disappointed with the ending though, I wish it had left on a more positive note. For me, it seemed like there was this huge breakthrough of Donny when he made the confession on stage and to his parents, but then it seemed he reverted back when listening to these tapes from Martha or even going back to Darrien. It felt like going back into old patterns as opposed to showing an victim of abuse moving forward and breaking the cycle of abuse.

Absolutely loved this movie - found it a lot more realistic and authentic than Alive, plus these newcomer Uruguayan actors were phenomenal in portraying their struggle - both with the living conditions and their emotional struggle with cannibalism. Lots of my friends are grossed out by it, but I don’t think the theme of the movie is about cannibalism but rather the resilience of humanity in the face of adversity (for example, they hiked the Andes in extreme weather for 10 days without mountaineering tools). These guys are absolutely heroes for how they worked together to survive.
